The Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, born in 1913 in the gypsy quarter of Somorrostro which then existed in what is today Barcelona's Olympic Village. Carmen Amaya made her debut in 1929 before King Alfonso XII on the site which is today the Tablao de Carmen at the inauguration of Poble Espanyol de Montjuic.

The real deal!

What a fantastic experience. This is not plastic-tourist flamenco, but the real deal, with passion and temperament. The location is wonderful, and so is the food. Try it!

Grading this place is challenging - one the one hand the dance show was great, and this is the reason people are coming to this Tablao. It's a wonderful experience and a fantastic way to meet for the first time the spanish flamenco dance and culture. However.... when one is comming to a night club he is not looking for... More

While traveling to Barcelona for a cruise we spent two days exploring Barcelona, a Flamenco Show was among the things on our list we wished to experience. Upon reviewing dozens of options and reading numerous reviews for flamenco shows in Barcelona, we booked our show at El Tablao de Carmen. First of all, the biggest surprise was the location of... To reach this destination you have to walk through a Spanish Village, which depicts the various regions of Spain, in a relatively small area. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the club, from the front gates. The theatre/restaurant is set in the Andalucian area of the village, complete with cobbled stones, for which high heels are not recommended. The... More

This is without a doubt the best Flamenco performance in Barcelona. Great venue, good service, food was good too. A must see attraction in Barcelona.

I guess a visit to Spain isn't complete without a visit to a Flamenco dinner theater. We chose this particular venue and booked through VIATOR. I was thinking that an hour of people banging on a solid wood floor would drive me crazy but it was all actually very well done. This show is within the Spanish Village which was... More

Be sure to buy the viato package the show with drink only if you have small children and not in the mood for a feast. We ordered food in the show for 4 of us and cost less than 30EURO

A good show - 4 different dancers - quite loud. Best seats would be in the balcony at the front. Menu was ok - nothing special, The sangria was nice. Recommend you get there early as it is in Poble Espanyol so you can have a look around before hand - shops close at 8 so you can't go even... More

We visited the Tablao del Carmen which takes place in a taverna in the Poble Espanyol (a sort of mock composite spanish town with elements from all over Spain), with modest expectations but high hopes. We only booked for a drink and show, rather than dinner - a good decision once we saw the quality of the food being served... More

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
