The Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, born in 1913 in the gypsy quarter of Somorrostro which then existed in what is today Barcelona's Olympic Village. Carmen Amaya made her debut in 1929 before King Alfonso XII on the site which is today the Tablao de Carmen at the inauguration of Poble Espanyol de Montjuic. The Tablao offers a top quality pure flamenco show, a direct descendant of the tradition. It dynamically presents several of the most important palos or styles of flamenco so that the spectator can get to know the richness and variety of this art form. It also highlights its different forms of expression: instrumental, vocal and dance.

We only found this place because of the reviews on trip advisor. We booked in advance and really enjoyed the evening. We had the tapas and show package and the tapas were nice...everyone gets theirs at the same time prior to the snow and they...More

The show was entertaining and the venue was in a neat location. While all of the performers were good, the last male performer was absolutely incredible.

I know that Flamenco isn't really a Barcelona thing, but it was still interesting to go see. The show is tailored to tourists, and it is located in an extremely tourist trappy area called El Poble Espanyol that I can't recommend going to unless you...More

This show is a must see in Barcelona! We were seated in the front row and could even feel the wind from the dancer's long dresses! The dancers are so passionate and great at what they do...you could really feel that they were enjoying themselves!...More

I pre-booked the flamenco experience via the El Tablao de Carmen website, which was certainly easy enough. I went for the option of the most expensive dinner package as a treat for my Mom's birthday but I regret not going for just the tapas and...More

I've been to many shows in foreign countries purporting to represent their cultural specialty but have often been disappointed.. This venue is small so every table provides a good view. The flamenco dancers were mesmerizing from the 11 year old in the family to the...More
