The Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, born in 1913 in the gypsy quarter of Somorrostro which then existed in what is today Barcelona's Olympic Village. Carmen Amaya made her debut in 1929 before King Alfonso XII on the site which is today the Tablao de Carmen at the inauguration of Poble Espanyol de Montjuic.

Very nice show. You can book a drink menu and after order "a la carte" food. Also, be aware that the location of the restaurant indicated by Tripadvisor City Guides it is not the real one. The restaurant is situated in Poble Espanol old town.

I went solo for seeing this performance and as requested they gave me good seat at the upper deck for where I could see the whole view of the performance . I took the Tapas with sangria combo which also included the performance. The price was 52Euro . He served me more than 2 glasses of Sanga

Show was really amazing and food was delicious (we had an option with tapas). But there was one thing that really annoyed me. We were sitting by the wall, pretty far from the stage - I have no idea why. View from there was not so good. However, there was an aisle in front of us and during the show... More

I used this place many times for my touristic groups, the dancers are passionate and one can see that they are enjoying what they do. The food is good and a really much better than most commercial shows in the city.

I went with a large group of friends as we wanted to see a flamenco performance. We all had a fantastic time. The dancers were very impressive, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the tapas and sangria were yummy. If you want to see a flamenco performance, this is definitely a nice way to go.

I wasn't too sure about seeing this performance, since Barcelona is not the best place to see Flamenco, but was I wrong. The performers put everything into their performances. I was worn out just watching them perform. After reading many reviews regarding the food, I was not expecting much, but I was very surprised how good it was. Maybe I... More

Loved the craft village. A good thing is that they are open late. The flamenco performance was enjoyable and the atmosphere was good. The Sangria was nice.

Catalunya is not home to Flamenco but we got lucky at this restaurant. They have an option to watch the show without having dinner - which is what we did. The dancers were fantastic. Enjoyed it very much. El Tablao de Carmen is in Poble Espanyol, which is in itself an interesting place. With our reservation at Carmen, we did... More

I was skeptical about visiting this attraction, but coupled with a Saturday night viewing of the Magic Fountains, the entire evening was enjoyable. The dancing was mesmerizing, the food was OK, but you kind of know it isn't going to be fantastic, so it is OK. I ordered the tapas and sangria and was very happy.

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
