As with much of the architecture in Barcelona, this has an intriguing facade and a wonderful dragon sign. It's on La Rambla, so you won't miss it if you're near La Bouqueria, which is across the street. Worth a few moments of study and appreciation. We visited in April and had absolutely no problem with pickpockets or unsavory characters during... More

In 1883 the architect Joseph Vilaseca began the refurbishment of this building that had an umbrella shop on the ground floor. He combined the modernist style with many different cultural elements, including the Egyptian and Chinese details. Don’t miss this extraordinary architectural work, it is just opposite the central market at La Rambla.

As others have said, it used to be an umbrella shop in 1883. That's when Josep Vilaseca reconstructed the façade and added architectural elements inspired from Chinese and Egyptian culture. The dragon and the umbrella on the corner of the building was used to advertise the shop. You can almost imagine a store sign hanging from the dragons claws. This... More

Casa Bruno Quadros is warm up for all the nice architecture Barcelona has to offer. It is nice to see it when on the Ramblas, it is on the other side than La Boqueria. It has some surreal elements like the Dragon. It is nice but face it Barcelona has to offer much more and interesting architecture like Casa Batlo... More

Staying in La Rambla

Neighbourhood Profile
La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-metre boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetising selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.
