We biked from Olot to Bagnoles, 20 miles each way on a very hilly road, with some very pleasant stretches once we climbed the big hill out of Olot.We did this on a Sunday, and encountered a fair amount of traffic in this first stretch. When we arrived in Bagnoles we stopped at a cafe on the lake to get... More

The lake offers a welcoming break after all that bustling touristy activities in Girona. The whole place presents an air of idyllic and blissful ambiance. You can choose to cycle, to walk in a slow and relaxing pace, or to hire a boat to row. We visit on a Easter Monday, there is an open antique market across the road... More

I returned here after couple of months and tried to fish largemouth bass again. Also I have to add that you need local fishing permit which you can obtain from tourist office at one of the nice "pesquera" no 10 at the lake. Where you can also rent a boat, but no fishing is allowed. Paying only by card. But... More

Great lake to visit while in the Girona province. A couple of swimming spots and some restaurants on the lakeside . Limited in regards to fishing but there are huge carp in the lake. There is one cruise boat which takes people out on the lake and you can circumvent the lake on foot, bike and car .....A definite must... More

This is a peaceful spot not too far from Girona. We cycled to the lake from Girona. There was a nice lakeside place to stop for a coffee/snack. Good atmosphere with lots of people out walking/jogging/cycling etc.

A nice walk around. Walking, bycicle, car possible. If you walk and see, take 1hour and a half. Years ago you could ski. Now it is a rowing sanctuary. An electric boat let you visit from inside. Restaurants around. No public toilet as usually.

We walked for about 30 minutes to get to the lake from the center of Banyoles. The lake is teeming with wildlife a must for all nature lovers. If anyone likes boat trips you can barter with the owners about the price, if there is a group of people you can get the price down considerably.

Despite the cool weather there was a nice walk along the lakeside (an even longer trek right round the lake is possible but I think that would be better attempted in the summer), and the bird life around suggests the water is clean enough for swimming.
