The walk is 2.5 km from the Church of San Bartolome to the hotel at the other end. It is a wide and clean promenade along which there are bars, restaurants and beach bars. As we walk through it we can see impressive mansions of Indians and businessmen who settled there at the beginning of the last century.

We just wanted to get out of Barcelona and stroll along the promenade in a quiet place and enjoy the sea. It was a sunny day in January and we really liked Sitges. Anyone expecting one of the usual holiday hotspots with no style will be pleasantly surprised.

A very nice promenade with very good restaurants. My favourite restaurant on this strip is Costa Barcelona. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. The beach bar Picnic is ideal and benefits by being divided into two main areas: one for eating and one for drinking. There's another beach bar about 100 metres away with a dj performing on Sunday evening.

Sitges usually is a dream for so many people but the actual local management makes the Sitges a garbage. Anyone can sales at the street. ilegal people are anywhere sales ilegal merchandising.
Garbage everywhere , very bad quality of tourists only for drink party and sex at the streets ... this is my point of view at my town. So sad ....
No advisable for good and cultural tourists.

The problem has got worse and worse with nearly every stretch of the Passeig Maritim within a 15 minute walk from the church covered by street sellers selling fake goods, handbags, trainers, sports tops, underwear, in fact there is not much that is not being sold down there. When the authorities come by and clear the sellers off the area, it makes it such a nicer environment. I have been coming to Sitges for a long time now and remember before these sellers were there. It would be good if these could be permanently discouraged and return the Passeig to its fabulous condition where I would give it 5 stars.

I've known sitges for 40 years now. It used to be a lot of fun to stroll on the beautiful beach promenade. Today, it is more reminiscent of the tourist bazaar of a third-rate Turkish seaside resort. Right and left of the way as far as the eye can see merchants with third-rate goods. This is very unsightly and destroyed the beautiful sight of this great promenade. The worst part is that you can not even use the tourist facilities as a tourist for which you pay tourist tax. The benches set up for the tourists unfortunately can not be used anymore they are besieged by the merchants and inaccessible. I wonder why I have to pay the tourist tax if I can no longer use the facilities. Sitges loses weight more and more of its shine. It is a pity because this place had once a lot of flair.

As the local tourist office points out, the town's beachfront has two options for pleasant walks. Make your way from the rail station down any convenient street and you are likely to end up near the highly visible church of San Bartolome y Santa Tecla. From there you might choose to go east over a small rocky hill surmounted by historic buildings and a quirky doorway in which is embedded a massive mirror, along a dark sand pocket beach to another slope topped by a cemetery and the harbor beyond. Or head west along a longer more traditional promenade backed by restaurants and other attractions. On a four hour visit from Barcelona we chose the east route and were rewarded with sunshine, varied attractive buildings and a great view from a lunch time Vivero Beachfront restaurant. If you have only a few hours to spend, this route would be a good option. Enjoy!

Elegant boardwalk that accompanies a long and beautiful beach. It is one of the most interesting places in Sitges, a town in itself delightful, with a typical Mediterranean charm.

A Sitges i cani in spiaggia sono ammessi?
Written 20 May 2016
Si ,nelle due spiagge libere , guardando il mare ,verso sinistra prima del porticciolo turistico, sempre nel rispetto degli altri. Buone vacanze a te e al tuo cane!

Hi there, passeig maritim means sea promenade in catalan and it is the name we give to the streets by the shore. In Barcelona it has a lenght of several kilometers and its plenty of restaurants that mostly are opened for lunch and dinner. spanish opening hours are very large so this is almost never a problem for tourists. closing day for restaurants is normally monday but most of the restaurants in the sea shore are open kind of seven-eleven (would be more like seven-16!). In spain we take lunch arround 14:00 and up to 15 or 16:00 but most places you can start at 13:00 or 13:30. this is nice for tourists as they find restaurants less crowded. Its dificult to have lunch before 13:00 in some restaurants but a lot if them open really soon.

Is it working during March, I mean before summer and how was your experience in it in January (do you enjoyed the beach during winter
Written 2 March 2016
If by enjoying the beach you mean taking a bath, water in january and even in march might be a too cold.
Walking by the passeig is nice if weather is fine, I mean sunny.
Same way goes the beach.

Public transport from Barcelona to sitges?
Written 10 January 2015
Very easy. Take the train from Barcelona Sants or Passeig del Gracia to Sitges. Or from the airport, changing at El Prat de Llobregat. Cheap and trains on the suburban Sitges line are around every 15/20 mins.
