You can climb to the top and enjoy nice views. The steps are modern internal steel with only a small part of the interior accessible. The centre is just a void with the stairs around the walls. The climb to the top is worth it.

This is a great Moorish Castle built about 700 years ago. We stopped here during our tour and you see a great place for take some photos and our thanks to our driver he told us a lot of history of this castle. However if you are not a fan old castle's it might be a waste of your time?

Visited here as part of mini bus tour of the rock. Great views of the port and the airport runway. a good bit of history with lots of battle scars.

Folks expecting a castle by European standards will be disappointed. This smallish gem was constructed by the Moors and could likely withstand an atomic blast. It is impressive and you can imagine how it served as a fortress as it is a solid block arising from the hillside. You can walk about in most of it and go up on... More

The castle is a solid block that rises from the lower slopes of the rock. It offers good views of the north including the airport. Interesting historical information is provided.

A good 60 minute trek up steps and roads and not that much to look at when you get there. Take the local mini service bus which stops about 300 metres away if you want to visit. Generally run down and quite neglected but view over town is good

If it wasnt that we had a combination ticket for most attractions, this would of been a waste of money. walk into the "castle" up some stairs on to a roof, and there you go. If your paying, ignore, but if you can get in free of have it apart as an inclusive ticket then pop your head in.

The inside does not have much of the original but this does make it accessible. Really interesting thing is the thickness of the walls. You get a great view from the battlements and an excellent place for photographs. There is a nice herb garden outside with a little pony but it does look like it has been left to die... More

Decided to do this tour after seeing the rocks and found it interesting although I forget its history but I went inside and climbed up those narrow steps to the top to get a good view of the city. The stairs were very narrow and I counted fifty six of them I was very tired at the end of the climb.

The fortifications on and around the site of the Moorish Castle were first built in 1160, when the Almohad Sultan Abd al-Mu'min ordered that a permanent settlement including a castle be built. On completion of the works it received the name of Medina al-Fath, the 'City of Victory'. The Tower of Homage of the Moorish Castle, dating mainly from around... More
