Been here a number of times at various times of the year and the climate is great. Always stay in a small village called Roda which is just outside Los Alcazares. Great for children as the Mar Menor water is not tidal, no currents and high in salt so people can float about easily.

From Lo Pogan, San Pedro del Pinatar, on to Los Alcazares a pletherer of clean sandy beaches. Most have bars on the beach and childrens playgrounds, safe bathing for the little ones. Plenty of bars and restaurants serving good cheap food just across from the beaches. Don't miss Hotel Encarnacion when in Los Alcazares, see the beautiful inner courtyard.

This is largest Lagoon in Europe and has been a fantastic place for years n years. Recently though , overspill from the boom in agriculture (due to water canals from wet regions of Spain) has effectively maimed this natural wonder. The water has turned black and algae has spread across large areas. The nitrates from soil runoff has done this... More

This lagoon was one of the reasons we moved to Murcia above all other areas However year on year the sewage from the agriculture and farms around find its way into it more and more until last year the Mar Menor( Small Sea) was condemned and periods are in place to clean it The beach was peaceful although busy in... We visited a number of resorts around the Mar Menor, from Lo Pagan, to Los Alcazares and around to La Manga. All are fairly pleasant, modern resorts. A drive along the La Manga sand spit was like a taking a drive through a modern ghost town of high rise buildings, it may be a bit livelier in the summer months... More

Drove down for our usual Saturday trip and found a good parking space on the front. Unfortunately our normal lunchtime restaurant was closed but we did find another which overlooked the beach. Were able to order omelette and chips for a light lunch with a couple of lovely cold beers. Just missed a wedding ceremony on the long 'pier' but... More

This has to be my favourite retreat. The beaches are beautiful, clean and the water is clear. There is a play park if you have younger children and plenty of umbrellas and loungers to rent if you don't have your own. There are plenty of restaurants on the beach front and a few shops to buy souvenirs etc. The mud... More

Stayed here in October 2016 and loved it😄 At this time there were very few holiday makers about. We swam in the Med and could not believe the temperature of the sea. It was twenty four degrees. Weather was fantastic. My idea of a great holiday.
