The Cathedral de Santa Maria is a 14th century church and has the ruins of the original Roman temple below the cloister. The altar has a 12th century carving of Santa Maria de Real. The bell tower has a 12 ton bell called Maria that...More

Sorry to say that, to me, this cathedral is not prettiest one. Ugly outside and boring inside so there's a lot else to see around this beautiful city than this. Spare you the trip.

We've visited a number of impressive churches in Spain. This 15th century Gothic church is the burial place of several mediaeval kings of Navarre. I found the cloister to be a particularly beautiful and peaceful place.

As always some churches want to profit on what it should be a free entrance. The church is nothing special at all to pay for a visit inside.

Walk the cloisters and see the beautiful and daunting work of restoration--especially now with it being half done--you can compare. See the cathedral from the city wall and enjoy Victor Hugo's description of "donkey ears on a grand old lady"
