I traveled hundreds of miles to climb Calpe rock. The park authorities have installed signs stating that if your are found on the path without a reservation you will be fine €600-6000
How to book a reservation not clear or transparent. This made the trip impossible so had to turn back however numerous locals could be seen jumping the barrier
Simply not fair on rule abiding folk

The reviews of the Parque Natural de Penyal D'Ifach here seem to focus on that trek up to the top of the rock. An impressive achievement no doubt, but even if I could physically climb it I doubt I would have either the need to do so or the head for heights required! There is so much more here. Lots of well thought out and signboarded walks where you can enjoy the scenery and wildlife. The archaeology around Calp is impressive and the Pobla D'ifach mediaeval village is within the Parque and only a slight uphill to visit. We spent some quality time here and left with precious memories.

Stunning place to visit. Today we only walked as far as the tunnel. Struggled to download the form to fill in - eventually worked on Chrome - only to fine out there www nobody there checking today (NYE) and the toilets were closed before 14:00.

The Peñón de Ilfach is the second big climbing rock . It’s a local beauty spot, bird reserve . It stands impressively tall on the imposing skyline of Calpe and set against Mediterranean blue day sky and the black star lit night sky looks like a painters paradise.
The walk to the mid point tunnel is a “tough” up hill walk but my three old daughter managed to do it. But the climb after that is tough and rough. Both the bird watch view point and top of the hill are mind blowing beautiful. Few points where we got scared but otherwise managed trek. The view was he real award of the trek .suggest proper geared shoe and clothing , special in wet seasons . The rocks are very slippery even in dry weather condition.

This Parc Natural del Penyal di'ifac is a very beautiful Mountain climbing. It is not for children from age 0 to 18. Adults if possible climb with hiking shoes and bring drinking water along. If you are afraid of height then it is not recommended. Before entering to the Parc Natural it is advisable to register at the entrance.

Liked the views, the climb was challenging at places. Worth the time and effort. Remember to take comfy shoes! Will definitely be back.

I travelled for 3 hours (each way) via tram and bus from
Alicante to come and do this walk. I was aware it was limited to 300 people per day having researched it prior.
but the website was only in Spanish language so I couldn’t book ahead. I also couldnt find out if it was full or not. I thought instead I would chance my luck, thinking at the very least I could climb halfway, and just turn back when I got To the tricky bit that required minimum numbers. But they actually put the turnstile At the bottom of the mountain. By the time
I arrived at the bottom mountain (around 11am) 300 people had already pre-booked so the walk was full, leaving over a dozen non-Spanish speaking people confused and annoyed at the bottom of the mountain. I imagine the situation would have got worse as the day went on and there was only 1 poor staff member there to control the difficult situation.
I completely understand the need
To regulate numbers, but when it is impossible to book and even find out if the walk is full or not, I had no other option but to travel all that way and find out, in the hope I might be able to do the walk.
The Camilo deal Rey had similar problems but they at least put the website in English to stop people wasting a day travelling there.
The Spanish tourist board should be ashamed.

I went to the top of this mountain. I would advise to go early and remember to register at least a day before you want to climb

Great views from the top! Not suitable for young kids but everyone else should visit. The real climbing starts after the tunnel, it's not that hard but its rocky and in times need to grab the wires while going up. Be prepared with good shoes to protect your ankles.
