The rich cripta is breath-taking experience that would be a pity to miss. Precious mosaics and marble decorations on the two medieval pulpits in the church deserve the visit. The front porch is a promising invitation at the church entrance.

Crypt is beautiful! This was the best part of Salerno, apart from traveling to the Amalfi coast. It is very easy to walk to and was not crowded.

A must see in Salerno. The Catherdral is a wonderful mixture of inconspicuous and extravagant. Despite having seen many of the great cathedrals of Europe the magnificence of the Crypt of San Matteo was still breathtaking.

We sort of stumbled across the duomo by accident on our 1st night, we were stunned, it's not the most glitzy duomo I have visited, but it is well kept, clean and bright, well worth a visit if you are in town

This is a lovely spot in the heart of the old city. The craftsmanship is remarkable. I was pleased to see it is still an active church. They were setting up for a wedding at this very alter when we visited.

Worth the short walk to see, stunning gold interior. Some parts looked new though. In a lovely square which has unique stalls and lots of bars and cafes.

We happened upon the Duomo while walking through Salerno on Maundy Thursday (before Easter). Fortunately we were able to be there for the traditional foot washing ceremony. It was quite a treat to witness that.

There is no entrance fee, and by the way don't forget to visit the crypt.
