This is a superb experience after visiting either Pompeii or Herculaneum. The collection includes surviving frescoes, statuary and mosaics from both cities, as well as numerous other artifacts that depict daily life prior to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Not a substitute for visiting Pompeii or Herculaneum, but a marvelous follow-on.

For years, I've been bemused by how often we might be at Pompeii or a host of other sites around Italy, admiring a treasure, only to read "copy - original at the Naples Archeology Museum." So today, we took the train down from Rome for the day to see the collection. It was worth every minute and every penny. We... More

Entry Euro 12. Photography allowed. A superb museum for visitors to Napoli - wonderful collection of Roman and Greek marble plus artifacts from Pompeii - expertly curated and friendly staff ... An absolute must visit before going to Pompeii so see the art taken from the city ... Go early to avoid the crowds ...

The marble sculptures (Hercules, for instance!) and the mosaics rooms let alone can justify the visit...definitely worth the visit and recommend for all! A MUST.

This museum is a must for everyone who has visited Pompeji and Herculaneum and who wants to see and know more about the interior design and objects of P&H. We suggest you first visit the sites and then the museum. However, two points worth mentioning: First, visit early in the morning as the museum later becomes very loud by large... More

We loved the intricate mosaics from Pompeii and having visited Pompeii the day before we were able to visualize where they were. The statues were amazingly preserved and the collection of pottery was wonderful. The scale model of Pompeii and the slideshow showing Pompeii before and after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius was very well done. We got an English... More

This is such a stunning Archeological collection. Comparable only to Athens and Mexico City, in my experience. Remarkable frescoes and mosaics...and don't miss The Secret Room!!!

A superb collection of antiquities highlighted by the most impressive Farnese collection of statues. The mosaics from Pompeii are also extraordinary. Plan on staying a while.

as other reviews have stated this museum could be more organised and have more information, and given how big the collection is, have more on display. saying that i did not care. i absolutely loved it. i think i had the benefit of going to Pompeii first so i had in my head where all of the artefacts would have...
