The "Seven Works of Mercy" by Caravaggio is a large (about 4m x 3.5m) oil gracing the main altar of this 8 sided chapel. It highlights the good works (misericordia) to which the founders dedicated themselves. Large 16th C. oils are mounted above the remaining side altars. The artworks have been recently restored and are beautiful. The Gallery upstairs has... More

I obviously didn't read the reviews thoroughly: there is an entrance fee even if you only want to see the church. We had only a short while before our other plans so had hoped to just pop in and see the famous Caravaggio in situ. Surprised by the fee and because we had so little time we ended up skipping... A beautiful gem -- an active church and a museum in one. Worth seeing for the Caravaggio alone (Seven Works of Mercy), but the other paintings and artifacts in the church and museum are also worth the trip.

This place hosts one of the most important painting of the famous painter Caravaggio. But beside this it is worth to visit it because there are many other beautiful things to see. Other painting from great artists and object of the past are well conserved here.

There was a small admission fee to enter this beautiful church, but well worth the price. Sette Opera di Misericordia is amazing and to see the work where it was created !! There are many other artists represented in this beautiful church.

It is hard to believe that this lovely place exists amongst the grime and disfunction of the area. Visited to see the Caravaggio and enjoyed our visit to this small but very interesting place. Well worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in this area.

This attraction took you through how art was affected by the naturalistic style of the Caravaggio. There are a number of pieces from not long after this painting which interpreted this style in different ways, but there are also lots of modern paintings, sculptures and so on from around the world, which were inspired by the painting itself, not just... Many people may bypass this museum on the way to the church to see the Caravaggio but stay around to visit the museum as well. Is a quiet, small sized museum with a wide range of artifacts including furniture, fabrics, painting and statues from the 1600-1900s.

The great painting of the forms of pity worth the visit, but then also climbing the stairs to the museum halls stocked with paintings & display cases of papal documents & lore related to this charitable institution, aimed to aid the poor.

Originally an organisation for the poor. The museum has mostly christian art and there is a churh too. Here you will find Caravaggios painting The 7 works of mercy in the church.
