Around the origin of our Catacombs much has been discussed, they were simpleburial and never were quarries or underground ways; the first note of the monumentis repeated since the death of St. Agrippino our bishop in the II century, when hisbody was buried there in a noble tomb. Many miracles the saint operated by thetomb, so it became a place of reverence and neapolitan wished to be buried in thatplace.

Such an interesting tour, conducted very well in English. The guides have put a lot of effort in to developing and excavating the catacombs - this place is so interesting, and definitely worth a visit. Easily accessible by public transport, or 15€ in a taxi from Piazza Municipio. We walked it from here, and it only took about 30 minutes... More

A really interesting pace to visit. The site is huge and the guides are really knowledgeable and friendly. What is even better is that the site is run by a co-operative group who started as volunteers so by visiting you are helping them to help themselves.

Tours (english speaking) are on the hour, every hour. we turned up at 10.10 and just missed the 10.00am.... we waited in the cafe area for the 11.00am tour and our guide took us on an underground tour (apologies i can't remember his name) he was excellent and the tour was very informative, especially on the history of the catacombs... The ticket price includes tours of both catacombs which are a short distance apart. Seeing both is a must because they are different. The passageways are wider than the catacombs in Rome. We did the tours on different days -- your ticket is good for up to a year to go to the second catacomb. The tour guides at both... More

This catacomb is more than some old bones. It's worth the bus ride and the wait for the tour in English by a guide who really cares about the place. Even as a non-Catholic, I was impressed by the site and please that I visited.

We went to both catacombs - San Genaro and San Giovanni! Can't remember which one is which but both were fascinating and the tour guides were excellent. They are clearly hardworking people trying to improve the local area! An excellent day out. Antonio and Miriam were our guides - great work.

huge catacombs, and very well set out, with a lot of different levels and things to see. The guide wasn't anywhere near as inspiring as the other nearby catacombs (in a church, sorry can't remember the name), but the information was good.

Excellent tour of the best catacombs in Naples. English spoken by pleasant and knowledgable guide. Tours leave on the hour so time your arrival. Ten euros in taxi from city centre (and ten back) - not near Metro. Take a warm top!

Went here in march in the morning, they have guided tours in English and the guide was great really informative and knew everything about the site and was really proud of the area and history. You must visit and the fee helps for the up keep of this site and others. We did follow onto the other catacombs nearby but... More
