We took the funicular up, Montesanto to Morghen station and then the short walk to the castle. Later in the afternoon the tickets were discounted and the views took on that warmer late afternoon sun tone. It was amazing. Up and up and up some more you are then able to stroll the entire top perimeter of the castle taking... More

Amazing views over Napoli. We accessed the Castel via one of the funiculars. Well worth the visit if only for the views

It was hard to get directions to the castle, we just followed the narrow streets leading up and finally ended up there, but it was quite an exhausting rise. We paid an entrance fee and I am still wondering why because I didn't find any museum exhibition or anything. We just took an elevator up to the roof, where we... More

The castle dominates naples at 360 °, a unique place in the world, you see Capri and the peninsula of Sorrento. Very useful to get an idea of the city and to admire a breathtaking view. cost? 5 €.

The best way to reach this place is to take the funicular railway from Montesanto to Morghen, then a short walk to the castle itself. You walk up a ramp on the inside of the castle walls (wheelchair friendly) and emerge to fantastic views over the bay of Naples and Vesuvius. It's €5, but cash only. There is a small... More

This isn't about the 5€ fee, nor the spectacular view, but the slow cashier and being unable to pay by card. So be warned to bring cash, as there are no ATM's in the area

Now this place you simply have to visit. A tube stops just around the corner. A Funicular takes you to the top. A short walk brings you to the Castle and the stunning views. If you don't want to go in, a bar, right outside, has just as stunning views along with stunning cocktail prices.

Castel Sant'Elmo is probably one of the best castles in Naples. As it’s situated in the upper part of Naples, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the city. Near the castle there is also an ancient monastery – Certosa di San Martino, and it worth visiting both. Many locals go there for a walk because there is not so many... More
