Busy! Very busy! Huge...vast! You do not really appreciate the size and magnitude of the disaster until you stand in the forum and look at Vesuvius in the distance. We took a tour which ensured we saw what we needed to see without worrying about...More

Had a weeks holiday in Sorrento. Got the train to Pompeii, very cheap and easy to do. The site is massive. Costs 12 euros to get in. I'd recommend getting the 2 hour guided tour for 12 euros also. You won't get much out of...More

We visited on a day of pouring rain with intermittent downpours but the weather in no way detracted from the spectacle which is Pompeii. This was one place on the long bucket list and I’m grateful to have reached it before the bucket is kicked,...More

We visited Pompeii as part of a cruise stop-off in Naples and were very glad we did. We only had a couple of hours there which was nowhere near enough time, especially as it was a very hot day, which slowed us down a bit!...More

Went to the ruins after going to the Herculeanum ones. They are actually very similar so I wouldn't recommend doing the two. We spent 4h in Pompei and obviously didn't see everything. You pay your entry fee and don't get any info. You need to...More

4 of us hired a private guide to drive with us through the day (Rosato Private Tours) and they lined up a guide (Lina) to take us through Pompeii. I have to say, this is the only way to do it. You get to move...More

We last visited 40 years ago and it was exciting to think what would be found when the city was finally uncovered. Forty years later they have uncovered much more, but oddly enough there is almost less to see. Nearly all the treasures and murals...More

Don't go at summertime like July August September - it is incredible hot. Best Month are around March April May or Okt Nov Dec. The day is not really important. Use a day with low temperature.
