Another one to put on your list.

Its hard not to try and imagine what day to day life went on here. obviously a wealthy family going by the size of the house, the pictures, mosaics and the courtyard with garden.

I saw a photo of this house, specifically the peristyle courtyard, a long time ago. The picture itself was quite old because the herms in the garden still had their heads on, the shrubbery needed care, and several masks were hanging from the peristyle roof. What puzzled me was a dark object across the garden from where the picture, in... More

This is another of the places in Pompeii where you can go back in time and imagine how people lived so long ago. This is probably one of my favourite places in Pompeii. The house was of an elite family and so much of it is still there that you can envisage their life.

The House of the Golden Cupids has a few nicely restored frescoes and mosaic floors. Although the name suggests the presence of cupids, there are none in the house. The name was derived from glass discs with cupids mounted on a wall and long since removed. So no cupids but the frescoes compensate for their absence as there are beautiful... More

A bit unusual because the walls are covered with paintings of everyday life in the city. Decorated with gilded cupids (which are largely gone now). A wealthy home owner with an individualistic style.

This house is often neglected because it is across the street from Casa di Vettii. Inside you will find frescos, mosaic floor sections and lots of details that only the rich could afford. 10 or 15 minutes here is plenty of time.

Inside there are are walls painted with scenes of life. Also a intricately carved facade on one of the walls.

It was interesting to see how water was allowed into the pool in the front room and the layout of the home's property.

Each of the sights at Pompeii are so special from the perspective of preserving history of everyday life in the ancient city. The House of the Gilded Cupids is outstanding because it offers a great example of the multi room Pompeii villas, central atrium, mosaic floors and wall frescoes. Nice. ...
