I enjoyed a 3 hour tour with a friends of the Colosseum and Ancient City with Stefano. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We also saved lots of time with privileged entrance. We were met by Eva at the meeting point, who was friendly. It was a hot day and she had bottles of water for us for the tour.

Our driver for the two days was Florido. Florido drove us to our tours, but prior to the tours also showed us around Rome and took us to some lovely little spots which we would never have found on our own. He also serenaded us with Italian music and had many stories to tell - very entertaining. Serena was our... More

Having by chance encountered Tour in Rome on the Internet while searching for private guided tours, we booked eight offered tours with them: Rome by Night, Catacombs and Horseback Ride on the Appian Way, Vatican Museums, Ghetto Tour, Baths of Caracalla-Colosseum-Roman Forum, Rome at Sunset, Borghese Gallery, and Ancient Ostia, not to mention a last-minute transfer to the airport. Every... More

My wife and I used Tour in Rome to visit the Colosseum and the Forum. The value was excellent. For 30 Euros each, the company had one guide for the Colosseum and another for the Forum. Both were very excited, experienced and knowledgeable about both sites. Again, great value - 1.5 hours for each site. Good job!

We hadn't planned a guided tour but when approached at the Colosseum by TourinRome staff we took the option after seeing the queues. Skipping the line was a great thing to do and our 45 minute tour of the Colosseum with an extra 30 minutes free time was a good introduction. Then we met another guide to walk to Palatine... More

I booked a tour online with this company for me and 2 friends, we did a private tour. It included the highlights of Rome in two days. The tour guides were great, very informative and knowledgeable. The tour was very well organized, two full days with breaks, the guides and the driver were very friendly. We were picked up from... More

After seeing the huge queues at the Colosseum I asked my hotel to book me a private tour of the Colosseum and the Vatican. It is an expensive way to do it but my guide was excellent. A local woman who was passionate and very knowledgeable about Roman history. She was punctual, very patient and spoke excellent English. No waiting... More

We had been to Italy several times previously, but wanted to go back to celebrate our engagement in Venice ten years ago. We booked their 4-day tour (really three) from Rome to Venice so we could visit some of Italy’s smaller cities. Tour In Rome is actually just a booking agent for this tour (don’t know about their other tours)... More

If you like to skip lines and get to the front faster and have a more enjoyable experience then sometimes you have to spend money. We had heard stories about 3-4 hour wait lines to get in to the Vatican and with only 1.5 days in Rome we wanted to do a tour. Plus then you learn more. After some... More

We booked a Vatican Museums Tour more than 2 months in advance. Received confirmation and details of where to wait for our tour guide. She did not show up. I rang the number on the email confirmation and there was no answer. A waste of a half day of our holiday and too late to see an attraction we were... More

Staying in Ghetto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ghetto
The mini-neigbourhood Ghetto holds tight to its reputation as a stand-alone area thanks to its nearly 300-year history as the home to Rome’s Jewish community. Times changed in the 20th century, but the tiny area still retains its mix of tradition, community, and history. Ancient and medieval architectural design frames apartments, bakeries, shops, and restaurants. Friends and families are the pulse of the neighbourhood, keeping company on the Via del Portico d’Ottavia. The Ghetto observes the traditional Jewish Shabbat: businesses close from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
