I was disappointed with this tour company, and many of the other tourists I spoke to felt the same. We headed off from Rome to Naples/Pompeii early in the morning. We stood out in the cold for a good 15 mins before the bus driver opened the bus for us. Our tour guide who was Russian could not speak English... More

The buses aren't as frequent as the other lines; about half of the audio jacks didn't work (one even gave an electrical shock); the ticket taker lady was seriously rude to everybody; and the bus was in need of maintenance... cracked windshield. Go with the real Hop On-Off bus service.

The hop-on hop-off tour started with one of the employees berating us for attempting to buy tickets from a man outside Roma Termini - he said we should have gone directly to them. OK, point taken, we didn't need the lecture though. We sat up the front top and found that only about half of the headphone ports worked and... More

So the bus ride to Naples was quiet good! Christina was very accommodating and friendly. I wish the would have told us to bring our own lunches instead of stopping at a nearly average lunch and had more time to site see. However, Fransico, our tour guide that took us through Naples in Rome was very slow and while knew... More

I have traveled to over 20 countries so I pride myself in knowing good service when I see one. I purchased the two day pass and it was such a mistake. The operators are so rude when you enter the bus, they have an attitude and clearly do not care for you or want to answer any of your questions.... More

The guide was boring, we were shown the colosseum hastily. We were shown important monuments from inside the bus. We spent more time at the cafe "for rest" than at the colosseum. It's better to skip this tour operator.

GLT delivered on what was purchased. They drove us safely and comfortably from Rome to Naples and Pompeii. The tour guide at the ruins was excellent and the integrity and professionalism of the staff can't be questioned. Thank you.

We took a day tour to Pompeii and in general it was fine, except it was a bit prolonged getting to Pompeii itself. I would have wanted a more direct route, but that's just my preference. Our Naples/Pompeii guide was great--informative and funny. And of course Pompeii itself is fascinating. The problem was with the tour guide. There was a... More

It's the worst tour operator ever, they make you buy it by saying they are cheapest and cover more stops than other operators which they may be but terrible terrible service. One of their touts linked us with them as we clearly were tourist without any knowledge of the city. There were two buses running all day long, we waited... More

My husband and I did a lot of exploring by foot, but decided to check out more places. As we were tired, but decided to book a ticket for the next day. We were able to get off at different stops and explore to our hearts content before catching another bus and moving on. It was a great way to... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
