Our guide (English) was VERY knowledgable and capable. However, she rarely took the lapel microphone off her blouse and whenever things got loud, her voice got lost. Now I see why you see so many guides walking with the mic right to their mouth; if they don't, you can only pick-up about 25-50% of what they're saying. Very, very disappointing.... More

I have to say that the Before Hours tour bypassing 'the crowds' is well worth the money if you can afford it. I am not religious but the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel were outstanding, the quality of art and the volume of objects is quite staggering. we were up at 0530 on our anniversary day to get to the... We book with Viator.com this tour and they cancel just two days before with no explanation. At the end we book a tour outside cheaper and with a great guide. The place is grate and for sure a must see!

Visited Rome in march 2017. Booked a half day guided tour with skip the line tickets for Vatican museum, Sistine chapel and St. Peter's basilica. Money well spent. Our guide enza was fantastic. She was extremely knowledgable and gave us great insights into the history of Rome , the important artworks in the museum and their origins and inspiration. If... More

The Vatican is amazing! The Long Q to enter is not worth the ticket savings and time. Pay a little more n get in to spend more time inside. Go for the professional guided tours, the history n knowledge they have is so interesting.

Although it was the last Sunday of the month (when the entrance is free) me and my friends opted for the guided tour which helped us skipping the never-ending queue and really enjoy the visit. We were part of a large and mixed group but our guide, Ribal AbiGhanem, managed to keep our attention focused while giving us plenty of... More

Exceeded our expectations. Lovely surprise to find just 4 of us on tour. Guide was an archeologist -extensive knowledge - perfect guide. No queues. We forgot everyone else around us as we were immersed in what felt like a very special private tour. Great value. Highly recommended. Top Tip. Wear comfortable footwear and ask for Micheala.

Really good tour guide who took interest in the group and was very informative. Definitely worth paying extra to get in early before the hoards decdended. We were out at 11am with plenty of time to see other sights.

Beautiful guided tour through the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and the grounds. So much history and awe inspiring architecture. Strongly recommend booking a guided tour, and immerse in the history of this beautiful place.

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
