Hanish Kapoor exhibition is stunning, if you are in Rome you have to see it!!! The museum itself is a bit jaded and frayed around the edges... We wanted to have breakfast there, but they did not have a selection of cakes to go with the coffee...

MACRO can always be a surprise. The exhibit by ‎Anish Kapoor was strong and heartbreaking. Do not forget to go to the bathroom and enjoy the beautiful view from the lounge.

This museum is on the outer edges of Rome, but well worth the trip. It's an old brewery which has been renovated in a very contemporary architectural style, sleek and cool. The art ranges from conceptual stuff which may or may not meet your taste to Italian works of the 1930s and newer. Especially good - and a forte of... More

The sink (pictured) in the ladies' room changes color as you wash your hands! The orange seating area (pictured) is also a fun place to put your feet up. This is a museum to see if you have time. It's west of the major part of Rome, on several bus and tram routes. A little coffee shop has sandwiches and... More

The museum was lovely and quiet and airy, which compared to the rest of Rome is a nice welcome! However, the range of art is quite eclectic, and lacks an appeal for an international audience. Some exhibits were thought provoking and interesting, others more obscure. The building itself is fascinating. Some of the staff seemed to be very moody and... More

A bit on the small side, with temporary contemporary art exhibitions. NOTE - they have a branch in a re-purposed slaughter house in Testaccio, a hike away which I found to be a total waste of time. Very local, young art work in progress, in 2 un- renovated, near crumbling buildings. Sounds glamorous, but is shabby & dismal. Ironically, neighboring... More

I am no connoisseur of modern art and a lot it leaves me cold, but there were some very interesting pieces to be seen including works by Giacomelli. The building itself is very interesting and the staff in the shop - especially Laura - spoke very good English and were very helpful

MACRO is not a very well positioned museum on Rome . It is recommended to verifiy what exhibitions are open . The space is an old beer factory . In february we see an exhibition of Dorfles and a selfie multimedia gallery . Not very attractive exhibitions. So it is better to connect this visit with a visit in quartiere... More

So uninviting we thought it was closed at first. Sadly it wasn't so we went in and wasted 12€ each. Acres of wasted space painted in battleship grey and a layout so confusing we thought it must be some art piece commenting on the madness of the modern condition. Or something. The best art to be found was actually a... More
