This small temple is in an interesting section of Rome. It's near the Tiber, the Tempio di Vesta, the Theatre of Marcellus, the Ponte Rotto and the main tourist attraction, the la Boca della Veritas (or Mouth of Truth). The Tempio di Portunus was recently...More

Tempio di Portuno, (also called Tempio della Fortuna Virile/Temple of Manly Fortune, since Renaissance times), is dedicated to Portunus, a god associated with water crossings and seaports. Built 4th-3rd century BC and renovated 1st century BC, it was converted into the Church of Santa Maria...More

There always seems to be scaffolding on some part of this temple whenever I visit it. "Visit" is not the accurate word, because you can't go in---you can view it only from the outside. Also, there's an iron gate around it (to prevent vandalism, probably)....More

These temples are just something you can look at as you walk by, you can't enter, they are very old and make for good pictures.

One of two ancient temples (150bc) in the Boarium, the other being the Temple of Hercules. It is visible to the River Tiber, and was once an observation point for monitoring livestock coming up from the river barges.

Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork
of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and
embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the
