Probably the most famous chapel in the world because of its incredible artwork, notably "The Last Judgment," Michelangelo's stunning fresco covering 10,000 square feet of the ceiling and wall.

Being in my late 50s and a first visit to Rome, seeing the Sistine Chapel was a bucket list item. Mission accomplished. The good: it is truly an amazing work of art with colors being extremely vibrant. Simply just seeing a work of art history first hand is thrilling. The bad: going on a Wednesday after a papal audience was... More

The Sistine Chapel lives up to its reputation in full! That said, prepare for a few curve-balls... 1. It WILL be crowded. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance online -- you'll skip the 1-2 hour museum entry line. No matter the time of year, people love this attraction and the Vatican piles them in like sardines. 2. You're... More

Our private tour guide walked us to the front of the line. Our 9 month old was asleep in her stroller as we visited, so people were so kind to make way for her so as not to wake her. The chapel, though much smaller than I envisioned, iwas still stunning nonetheless. The colors of the renderings though centuries old,... More

This is an absolute MUST SEE!! I had no idea of the sheer size of the corridors covered from floor to ceiling in the most amazing artwork! I'm no art expert... but you simply cannot be anything other than impressed / floored by the quality of art on display..... I'd go as far as to say this is the best... More

It's such a fantastic place to see! Make sure you have enough time to look around because you can easily spend a lot of time here. You can not visit Rome and not see the Sistene Chapel!

This was the highlight of my trip. I am not religious at all but when you walk in here you feel the power of faith in the air. Definitely humbling

The ceiling is beautiful and for sure a must see just wish it was less crowded and that we could take pictures as I honestly don't understand why they don't allow it other then perhaps is to have people move along faster. It made me feel a bit catastrophic as it was packed and they have it gated and all... More

Better to go with a guide when touring the Cistine Chapel, good tour for a few bucks more. When touring in Rome, better to get the hop on, hop off bus just outside of St. Peter's Square. The bus will take you to all the main attractions and is very reasonable. You can purchase your pass for as many days... More

Although the Sistine Chapel is undoubtedly highly spiritual and symbolic the cattle herd experience with droves and droves of people and keepers yelling about not taking pictures made for an experience that was profane and soaked with commercialism and greed (pack them in, push them through, and reap the ticket sales). This is such a sad statement about what the... More

Magnificent, opulent, work of many great geniuses. Michelangelo stands above them all - and he literally stood when painting the ceiling! No photos, no loud speech - and not enough time to see everything. Worth several hours.
