Beautiful place to go to. Recommend wearing tops that cover your shoulders and trousers below the knees as most people do but not all. Very long queue to get into what I think was the chapel. So had to give that a miss. Had street sellers inside the area outside St. Peter's Basilica which was a shame but wasn't too... More

It's everything you expect and more. The view as you walk into the square is amazing - pictures don't do it justice. It takes your breath away. The only downside - you will be unceasingly harangued by people trying to sell you guided tours - and they can be persistent, which is annoying if you don't want one.

Nice place to people watch and the guards can be entertaining to watch. But don't go on Wednesdays because there is a mass and the security is very high.

I can only imagine how many people crowd here when the pope is out and for mass. Very big area. Shops around are expensive

He's the guy who designed these 'loving arms of the church' coming down and out into the 'square' (really a nice rectangly thing and then a big oval with an obelisk and couple fountains). 140 statues. I don't know, that's just rome though right? everybody's a sculptor apparently. Everywhere you look is something beautiful and looks like it took decades... More

Despite the crowds you can still soak up the atmosphere and feel the presence. Such a peaceful and awe inspiring place. You can imagine what it must be like when the Pope comes out on the balcony.

This piazza is gigantic and Pope worthy. The photos can't give you a true understanding of the size. Just stroll through after visit to Vatican and St Peter's Basilica.

We were able to attend Easter Mass on April 16 9 rows back in the square. The square itself is huge, and during mass, it can hold over 100,000 people. Two colonnades containing many columns border the square. The Square provides many photo opportunities. The best way to experience the square is to walk towards it from Castel Sant'Angelo. As... This is the place we all see on television where thousands of people wait to look at the color of smoke as a new pope is elected. It's an impressive plaza. If you haven't bought a ticket or a tour, this is where people wait in the hot sun for hours to try to get a ticket to enter The... More
