Italian cooking lessons in an Italian home! We are happy to teach you how to prepare authentic Italian dishes and although we are friendly, we are also quite serious about teaching you the right way to make these dishes and ensuring that you will be able to replicate these back home. Your success back home is our objective. We are professional and experienced but not stuffy or arrogant. Our specialty is pasta making, the old fashioned way; the way the Italian grandma's still make it (with a wooden rolling pin and board)! You will make several pasta shapes and sauces and won't miss anything! We also teach how to cook with local specialties like Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Bologna Mortadella and Prosciutto from Parma. We cook with fresh seasonal produce, meats, and seafood. Lessons are personalized and held in small groups (1-3, up to 6 if related or close friends) to assure plenty of one-on-one attention. Our hands-on cooking lessons are held in a home setting. No surcharge for single participants or private lessons. Discounts for children. Lessons available in English, Spanish or Italian.

We met in the market, where Maribel gave us a tour highlighting all the local produce and goods. Maribel is very knowledgeable and we both found it very informative and interesting to see the foods that are available. While we walked round we decided what our menu was and shopped for our ingredients Afterwards we went to Maribel's apartment to... More

Thank you so much for your review. It was a pleasure to spend the day with you and your husband and thus, celebrate his birthday. I am happy you trusted me with choosing the wine and following my suggestion for the strawberries... I test everything many times before even suggesting it to my students. My best wishes for both of... More

Maribel put on a fun and memorable class. It was one of the highlights of our time in Bologna. The instructions were simple and clear and will allow us to easily recreate the great food to which we were introduced, including handmade pasta in many shapes. We also loved the market tour. The only hard part was choosing what to... More

I'm in the midst of an extended trip through Europe where I've been doing a lot of cooking in our Airbnb rentals. Taking this class with Maribel was a fantastic education. The marketplace tour was so worthwhile, she will gear both the tour and the class to your needs. We toured fruit & veggie markets, fish markets, the deli store,... More

Thank you MAT! I am so happy you enjoyed my class and shopping together at the market. I am glad you came along as I also think the Bologna markets have lots of fascinating ingredients as well as lots of variety in the produce. And as I mentioned in the email with the recipes I sent after class, I really... More

Maribel was very welcoming and it was a joy to create such delicious dishes in her kitchen. She was a brilliant teacher - the highlight for me was learning about making tortelloni and tortellini, and tasting some of Bologna's finest ingredients; delicious! Make sure you take a camera/phone with you to take pictures.

Thank you so much Hester for your wonderful review. I am very happy that you enjoyed making pasta the Bolognese way and that you also enjoyed eating it. It is nice if it looks good but it is more important that it taste good! All the best to you and your husband. More

We did the market tour which was very informative and interesting to see the foods that are available. We made gluten free pasta which we imagined would be difficult but Maribel's instructions made it achievable. We were really happy with how all our dishes turned out and are very excited to make it for our family and show off our... More

Hello Michelle, thank you so much for your review. I was happy to teach this class to you: gluten free pasta - in the end you really could not tell the difference between the regular noodles and our gluten free beauties. :) More

If you're serious about learning to cook, especially Gluten Free, don't even consider anyone other than Maribel! She is proud of her craft and clearly wants her students to LEARN. So if you're looking for one of those group/social cooking schools where everyone gets well lubricated on wine, this is not the place....NO wine until it's time to eat!...fine with... More

Thank you so much for your detailed review, Italy-nuts. Like I said in class, I am curious and need to understand how to best prepare something and why things behave a certain way. I try to relay as much information to my students --- and yes, I prefer to leave the wine for after we are done preparing our meal.... More

I did the Supreme Class - we toured the market and then went to Maribel's house to cook. We made pasta for tagliatelle and tortellini, ragu, ricotta stuffed squash blossoms, a fig/prosciutto antipasti, and a marscapone dessert. The food was all amazing. More importantly, I learned a lot during the class. There were only three of us in the class... More
