No more ready pasta for us

We were booked into a morning's cookery school and it was amazing. The staff are so friendly and welcomed us. There was an option to start off making pasta or making the sauces but you could chop and change and see how it was all done. We then got to eat what we had made in the restaurant area below.... We knew it was a cooking school but we also knew that it served food even on Saturday evening. We tried another restaurant in the neighbourhood at first but it was full, and one of us came up with the idea of going there. We were actually very pleased - the tagliatelle I had was good, a friend had tortellini... More

We were visiting Bologna for the long weekend & I enquired about the pasta classes available. Our hotel (Star Excelsior) recommended & booked this for us. My daughter & I signed up for the 3 hour session- we wanted to have a bit of fun while trying to learn something new. We do not speak Italian & were assigned one... More

We had lunch there last week after having enquired the day before about the activities of the school. Maybe if we had followed cooking classes, we would have liked it, however, the food we were served was pretty awful ! The wine was undrinkable and to charge 2,5 Euros/person cover charge is totally inadmissible for a cookery school. The next... More

On a whim, and because it was just down the street from where we were staying, I signed myself and my two kids up for a pasta making class. I've studied different kinds of cooking in various places, but this was a really lovely experience. It's very much a hands-on class, which is necessary for something like pasta where you... More

Had no real idea of what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Class goes through the basics - ideal for somebody who's only ever ripped the top off a pack of penne before. Good fun and now not daunted by the prospect of wielding a 1m+ rolling pin!

I was the only American tourist taking the class, so I had to do all the mixing, rolling, and folding myself. My teacher, Carla, was very patient with me "pinch, pinch, pinch" and I did a pretty good job making tortellini, tortelloni, and tagliatelle. After you make the pasta, they cook it for you and serve it with a sauce.... More

I've been making pasta "by hand" using my KitchenAid for years. Here we did it all by hand and the results were amazing! A word about our teacher, Andrea. He was the best. He was both very good at explaining, showing and correcting our technique. As someone whose taught people psychomotor skills (stuff you do with your body not your... More

I have made past before with a hand crank and decided to try this class. We made tortellini, tortellini, and tagletelli and the instructor was very specific with recipes and instructions. I came out of class really knowing how to make this type of oasta. But Ok, these Italians are crazy about their food. From specifics on the age of... More

We had a wonderful experience at La Vecchia Scuola Bolognese. We made various types of pasta with excellent instruction. (None of us spoke Italian-so instruction was in English.). We had a wonderful time with the class and instructor. Was a great mix between fun and serious. We did the one day class. They have different courses for more serious/professional cooks.... More
