This is not a huge and tiresome museum, well kept, and with a large variety of material showing the events surrounding Bologna and its history in an interesting way. One can spend anywhere between an hour or a couple of hours, depending on how much information one is prepared to take up, and if one intends to see everything, or... More

A perfect view on the history of the town, without being overpowering or too scholarly. A pity that the explanations are only in Italian, however every room has leaflets in English. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Had very nice conversation with Cesare, who went out of his way to convey information and an informal presentation of the few rooms he was attending.... More

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially since Bologna has many great museums that offer magical experiences and good value. This museum is definitely not worth the 11 euro for general admission. Discounted tickets for students are still a steep 8 euro, and only on Tuesdays (why?). Strollers have to be left in lockers downstairs, which is a problem... More

very interesting collection and the illustrated manuscripts are beautiful. The whole collection is not too big that you get tired, but enough variety to be very engaging.

A must for anyone with the slightest interest in how a place came to be. Very well laid out and "user friendly". Fosters a greater appreciation of this wonderful city.

we decided to visit this museum to get an overall view of the city. We were not disappointed. Its a very accessible and user friendly sort of museum and we felt that after a couple of hours there we had learnt a lot

It has interactive AIDS which really enhance the learning of this most fascinarpting of historic cities. I suggest going here as soon as possible after arriving in the city because it really adds to one's understanding and sense of Bologna.

The free audio guides were a great help as the written info is all Italian. Very effective displays, a good way to spend a few hours.
