Outside it is quite attractive if a bit won't. Inside as you enter it is quite dull, mainly brick. However the crypt was rather good, vaulted with columns and some nice marble work. The apse had a good mosaic ceiling. So, good in part, dull in part.

This is a beautiful church in the center of Modena. Make sure you check out the crypt, where the town's patron saint is buried.

It's the main attraction of Modena. Located centrally and one can really enjoy this place. There ample amount of cafeterias and pizzerias for the Italian food lovers. Additionally, I saw that there are many shops of historical antique pieces. A must visit place in Modena.

The Romanesque duomo is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We were very surprised to find out that it's completely free to enter and that it was not crowded on a Sunday in September. There were only a handful of people when we visited around 2pm. Tranquil and beautiful.

The 11th Century cathedral (the Duomo) is very solid-looking Romanesque, especially when compared to the almost airily graceful Torre Ghirlandina a block behind it. Both feature white and light gray stripes of marble. The façade of the cathedral is relatively restrained, with narrow horizontal bas-reliefs. The famous rose windows of clear, not stained, glass casts some light into the otherwise... More

Must see the Modena Cathedral. Very pleasant visit. The chorus in the upstair floor is magnificent. Also the colored glass over the entrance is a piece of art
