Open every last Friday of the month, this is a guided visit of an air raid shelter (€3, but beware -- both the tour and almost all the expository text are in Italian, with a handful of German texts spread throughout). The difference between the German-built and Italian-built parts of the shelters is fascinating, and to think 1300 people would... More

Reading the amazing reviews on TripAdvisor, I tried my best to organise a visit to Kleine Berlin. I was in Trieste for two weekends. On the first weekend, on Saturday I tried to call various time the indicated number without any answer. At the end I sent an SMS and got a reply only on the next day saying that... More

Amazing architecture of underground shelters and the story of bombardments of Trieste during wwII. Hard to get the schedule of guided visits.

Trieste was the only part of Italy that after Sept.8 1943 was annected to Germany for strategic reasons (the Port). This put it under bombing so the germans and Italians built a network of shelters for the German governor and army and for the civile population. Now, thanks to a group of knowledgable and passionate volunteers, you can visit part... More

Outstanding place of history but above all exciting. It is a unique example of urban bunker and shelter that had been used for different purposes. You have to bring with you a torch, wear boots and maybe a raincoat. Not easy to find info on tours timetables, it is better to get info when you already are in Trieste.

This place is an outstanding example of the urban bunkers during the 2nd world war. It is an experience full of emotions. We need to remember this part of history in order not to repeat these mistakes. The guide is keen to explain the history and if one is interested knows many details.

Had read about Klein Berlin and seriously tried to get there. Went to their website to try to determine hours they were open. To no avail. Called directly but no one spoke English. That's fair. Called the Trieste travel information only to be told that they only are open on Fridays. Unable to determine if this is because it is... More

Sorry for the problems you have had in contact us. We are a private association and not a public museum, we are open only every last Friday of the month at 8,00 p.m. or, in other days, on reservation, for schools or groups of at least 15 people. The site is managed by volunteers like me and unfortunately not everyone... More
