I think some parts of the trail from other villages were out when we were there. We did the walk from Monterosso to Vernaza. Starts our steep and stays that way for about 45 minutes. Good views and things to see, but it was a good two hour hike.

Do this 1.5 hour hike and you will not be disappointed! There are many, many steps up and downhill hill so be prepared for a workout.

It took about 2 hours and wasn't that busy as we went during lunch time. Others had said the morning and afternoon were very busy. The weather was perfect....wouldn't want to do it in the heat of summer. The views are amazing. There are a lot of steps but definitely worth the workout. The pictures as you leave Monterosso and... Walking from Monterosso to Vernazza can be challenging at the beginning of the walk as it does take a bit before the path levels out. It is quite steep at first, but can be done, slowly, without poles or walking sticks. There are plenty of place to step aside and take a break to enjoy the views and refresh. The... More

This is a stunning walk with world class views however not for the unfit Path is uneven most of the way and drops off the side steeply in parts You should be capable of 10 flights of stairs without resting in order to enjoy the walk and not be distressed physically The persistent are justly rewarded Wear quality walking shoes... If you need a little strenuous excercise with some nice views try this trail. Our activity monitor app said we climbed 71 stories after this hike.

I walked all the paths (including the alternatives) along the Cinque Terre. Do not attempt if you cannot manage the steps into/out of the villages - they are relentless. There is a little treat once you are on the mountain path, in the form of an enterprising local who has an electric juicer and is selling freshly squeezed orange juice... More

We were on a cruise in the Mediterrenean and had booked a trip from Livorno to Cinqueterra. The bus took us to Porto Venere and from there we were supposed to go by boat to Monterosso. In Porto Venere we were told the sea would be to rough and we had to go by train. This had also happened to... More

Did it in 45 minutes, from Moterosso to Vernazza...I had to be quick, cos friends took train... I did not stop for sightseeing, but it was overall a great experience... Only downside is, lots of people, many just not ready enough, so I had to overtake aproximatly 100 hikers... But that is my problem, not theirs...

Beautiful views the whole way. More rigorous than I expected. I wore sneakers but hiking boots would have been better. We took the dog and it was challenging at points to get past groups going the other way. Thankfully it was not high season with much more traffic.
