Lovely views

A lovely garden with superb views of the lake and mountains. Not great value for money - but worthwhile supporting this venture.

Incredibly beautiful rock garden perched on the mountainside looking at the sweep of the western shore of the lake. We came up the cable car which runs up from Carciano, climbing 800 metres encountering some eye-popping perspectives of villages, crowns of trees and woodlands all around The keeper's lodge commands a view that is a knockout, over the lake, islands... Lovely place to spend a couple of hours with one of the most beautiful views of the lake. Tie it in with your trip on the cable car as it's at the mid stop. There are no places to get a drink or food but there are toilets.

Visited this garden via the cable car stop which is some 15 minutes walk away. Layout is good and the many lovely plants well labelled. View over the Lake is wonderful and ideal for camera shots. A nice experience and not expensive.

Stopped to visit the gardens on our way down from the top of Mottarone. They are about a 15 minute walk from the cable car. The gardens are very interesting and are wheelchair friendly as there is a made up path. There are again great views over the lake & islands. The only improvement that could be made would be... Very disappointed with this garden,August may be the wrong month in the yeay to visit an alpine plant garden but we both found it uninteresting and no plants in Bloom. The only good thing this garden has going for it is a truely beautiful view over lake Maggiore

Having visited this garden along with 4 others on this trip in September, this one came a distant 5th for colour and impact. Of course, alpine plants bloom in April/May/June, and when we got there, only two specimens were in flower. There are nice walks along terraces to a viewpoint overlooking the lake, but summer views are being hampered by... More

Having read previous reviews I was not surprised at the lack of colour and certainly September is not the time to go if that's what you want. However there are clearly lots of plants in the garden which at the right time of year would be lovely. The gentleman taking our money was very pleasant and walking around the path... More

This is about 500m from the cable car and isn't worth the minor effort. It is a just a few hundred meters round a pathway and there are a few flowers, the owner doesn't really care if you are there or not. He is just happy to take a few Euro off you and doesn't even make eye contact or... More

I had looked forward to visiting the alpine garden but was disappointed. I know that this time of the year lots of the plants have flourished and are dying back but felt that the entrance fee of 4.5 euros was a bit steep to see beds of gravel with plants that were clearly at the end of growing season. The... More
