nice but you are almost unable to walk because of people around you who wants to sell things. Do never get any food for birds from other people. This means you will have to pay 20 € for or .... bad story

We took the audio guide: wealthy men have tried to outdo each other here through five centuries by building evermore elaborate monuments. Gothic became Baroque as a result of the competition. The sheer number and variety of statuary, chapels, historic resonances all in a dimly lit atmosphere would make reading a guide book a chore. The audio guide was very... More

I am not a fan of Milan. My faves are definitely Brera and piazza del Duomo. The rest of the city lacks the character in my opinion. But the duomo is magical, even on a cold, rainy day.

I saw it from outside only. It is so big and tall with lots of beautiful carvings and detailing. I was on a walking tour and the guide pointed out that if one does not want to see the who building, then can go to the cathedral for 2 euros. Best time to see it is about 8 a.m. The sun... More

The Piazza is surrounded by great architecture, the Duomo, The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The square itself is ruined by all the flying rats, aka pigeons. It baffles me that people are still allowed to feed them.

The plaza with its center of attractive and once in a life time of views. Facing the Duomo and it shows it's magnificence, to the right there is the Duomo's museum and to the right of that Museo del Novecento (a modern art museum) to the left the mall of Milano ( a glass roof with four open entries) loaded... It is always nice having a walk at the Duomo. Fantastic view in a relaxed atmosphere. Be careful, it is very crowded and pickpockers are just around the corner!

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
