From the outside it doesn't look hugely impressive, and being in a busy district it is easy to neglect, but once inside the decoration is fantastic - great detail and character almost everywhere you look. Well worth a visit if you are nearby.

We were just walking the streets when we entered this church out of curiosity. The main part of the church is covered with brilliantly colored paintings. BUT go back to the Hall of Nuns and you will be impressed. We must have spent 30 minutes...More

Wow! This was amazing. I almost didn’t walk in based on outside. Absolutely beautiful wall to wall frescoes. Be sure to bring binoculars if you have them. You can still appreciate all the beauty.

I have been to churches all over the world and am hard pressed to think of one with such beautiful decoration literally on every available wall space. It is overwhelming and magnificent. Little remains of the convent built between the 8th and 9th century. The...More

I loved this place. It was amazing. The frescoes are out of this world. It is free although I went as part of a tour. Outside the church looks like a plain ‘just another church. You’ll be taken aback when you enter!!

Free to visit, this stunning church and monastery is quite small, but quite breathtaking. Every inch of the interior has been painted with beautiful frescos and should not be missed. There are two main rooms, both of which are equally impressive. Photography is allowed.

Hi Freddyblu! Although the church of San Maurizio is still consecrated, masses are no longer being celebrated there. Nevertheless, you should visit the church to see its beautiful frescoes.
