Elegant Turin has a secret history shrouded in mystery and links to magic and the occult. Discover the dark side to the city during this guided tour by night that takes in sights and landmarks linked to the city’s twins “souls”, one associated with black magic and the other with white magic. Visit areas of the city considered cursed since Roman times, sinister architecture, and forbidding statues.

This is near Po river and somehow part of a palace grounds. It is small, but many plants with good info. We appreciated mostly the path that allows access on the grass in the middle of the garden.

We walked to the Museo dell'Orto Botanico and first tip is that signposting is not good. We walked right past the entrance (which might sound odd) but the frontage didn't look like and entrance and was closed! When we pushed the door opened but no-one was there! We did find someone and paid of our fee and was given a map. This wasn't entirely necessary as it's quite compact (small) and, on a positive note, most plants are clearly identified. If a Toursit you need your translation book handy. We went in Auugust and most plants were past their best so that was disappointing. In full bloom I'm sure it looks amazing. It has strange, or limited opening hours, so check this out first. The walk there is nice and it's right by the River Po which is good.

While we did not visit the Orto Botantico in the grounds of the Castello del Valentino, in Parc del Valentino, we just had a quick glimpse in through the fence and saw an unremarkable garden. The garden was founded in 1729 by Vittorio Amedeo for the teaching of botany to university students, particularly medical students for the growing and use of medicinal plants and herbs. The gardens, greenhouses, herbarium and the library are open to visitors for a small fee at select times of the week.
