Renon's new cable car opened on May 23, 2009, offering a whole bunch of fantastic advantages for vacationers and local commuters alike: a generous schedule, short travel time and easy access. It's a true gem. It only takes 12 minutes for the gondolas to move from Bozen/Bolzano to Oberbozen/Soprabolzano - they depart every 4 minutes, so there's practically no waiting time.

Quick trip up to the Renon plateau. Lots of opportunities for walks. We took the tram-train to Klobenstein- spectacular views of the mountains, and took a hike for a few hours, taking in the remarkable earth pyramids at Lengmoos. A ride back on the cable car made for a great day out

We used the Bolzano Bozen MuseuMobil cards that were given to us buy our hotel. At 9:30am on a Wednesday when we arrived at the terminal station in Bolzano we immediately boarded a car, and were exiting the station at the top 15 minutes later. The views from the car were stunning, and the ride was as smooth as can... More

We went in December and there was no line up. Very smooth trip with amazing views to the Dolomites. Great value for money and its really worth taking a trip on the railway once you get to the top

Fantastic way to get from Bolzano to Soprabolzano and then with the Renon Railway. Also quite good value for money with the Mobilcard, which, for only 15 EUR gives unlimited public travel in Alto Adige with trains, cable cars and buses. The views were not great when I went as it was quite foggy and cloudy, but in the afternoon... More

My family had a great time enjoying the views as the cable car ascended towards the top. There was hardly a queue and there was sufficient room for sitting or standing for everyone. Getting a bird's eye view of Bolzano was interesting but it was the little houses that dotted the mountain sides that caught our attention. It was definitely... More

Modern, clean, smooth cable car with amazing views. Good value if combined with the railway too. Runs every 4 minutes and takes 12 mins in total.

Also known as the Rittner Seilbahn, these gondolas whisk you along the 4.5km and almost 1000m height difference in 11 or 12 minutes. They run very frequently and at 10EUR for a round- trip fare, it's a bargain, worth a round trip if you are pressed for time, even if you do not get off in Oberbozen. If you do... More
