This is the oldest Botanical gardens in the world, set out to permit the study of medicinal plants in the mid 16th century.

Botanic Gardens can have a number of functions. In part this Botanic Garden is a museum showing us how the first botanic garden worked. It has a second area based on biodiversity which is more interesting and attempts to educate people about plants, why they grow etc. As some people have said its a lovely walk in fresh air but... The Botanical Gardens are quite beautiful, and they have a long history dating back to the 16th century. There is a museum devoted to endangered animals as well as the gardens. A great place to go on a day when the weather is fine.

A popular place among children and schools, it offers relaxation and horticultural entertainment. Easy to reach on foot, very green and full of plants and trees from around the globe.

This is the world's oldest academical botanical garden that exist at the same place continuously. I love parks and gardens and the Orto Botanico di Padova was a pleasure to visit. It is centrally located and easy to walk to from many of the small hotels in Padova. It s not expensive and, although it is not a huge garden, it is quite comprehensive especially if one visits the large greenhouses on the southern end... More
