For our honeymoon in July 2017, we purchased the "Semi-Private 12-Day Magic of Italy Vacation Package" that let us savor the best of Italy, including the history and art of the big three (Rome/Vatican City, Florence & Venice), while combining that with two-night stays in Sorrento on the stunning Amalfi Coast and in the classic Tuscan hill town of Siena. In addition to that, we selected stop-overs in Pompeii (Day 4), a private half-day Brunello tour where we got to visit, drink and eat at the famous Montalcino winery (Day 7), a private half-day tour to Pisa where we climbed to the top of the Leaning Tower (Day 8). We also did some unscripted side trips -- first to Naples and later to Burano. All in all, we got to get a very nice and casual taste of Italia, which was equal parts activities/sight-seeing/touring and shopping/leisure/resting. The people who helped put our trip together understood that we'd be strapped for cash after paying for our wedding, so they were very good about working within our budget. Usually to get to see that much of Italy in the summer time, it'd easily be more than $12,000, but we did this entire trip for about half that amount -- and I'm so thankful to them for making that happen for us! Additionally, I guess they informed everybody that it was our honeymoon, because every time we arrived at a new hotel, there was either a bottle of champagne, a fruit bowl or a letter congratulating us on our marriage, which was so very cool and unexpected of them. What happened with us is that once we settled on a price and signed our contract, a week before we were set to fly out to Rome, they e-mailed us all the vouchers. On each voucher, it said a time and place to meet up with our driver/tour guide (usually right in our hotel lobby or near the activity that we'd be doing that day), and almost as if like clockwork, we'd go down at the time they said with our voucher in hand, and the driver/tour guide would be standing right there holding a sign with our names on it. Every time they picked us up, if they were driving us, they'd show up in these black luxury Mercedes-Benz SUVs, and they would literally know the history of everything we passed, telling us all of it as we drove to keep us entertained throughout the rides. We'd ask them random questions, and they seemingly knew the answers to all of them -- it was rather impressive. Though they all spoke English perfectly, I did my best to speak to them in Italian, if only to practice what I'd learned in school years before, and 95% of the time, they understood me well enough. When they didn't, I'd fall back on English or Spanish and that would clear it right up. Nevertheless, they were always so kind to my wife and I. One driver even went so far as to personally call a great restaurant in Sorrento and set it all up for us so that we could have what seemed like a 7-course meal essentially for free (even though I did leave about a 50-euro tip because I would have felt bad not paying anything after the waiters were all so nice and accommodating with us). One driver even stopped to buy us "the best Italian ice in all of Italy." Just for the record, they never expect tips in Italy, but I still always gave them one because it just feels wrong to me to get a service for nothing. And lastly, the hotels that Avventure Bellissime picked out for us (mostly five-star hotels, but we had one four-star hotel within the five we stayed at), were all very well located, super nice looking and central to all our activities -- we stayed one tiny walking bridge away from Piazza San Marco in Venice, on a cliff-side hotel overlooking the ocean in Sorrento, in a Tuscan castle overlooking a beautiful garden in Siena, right next to the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in Florence (where we'd have people with great voices singing love songs on the street at night for tips), and the only-four star hotel we stayed at was the Diplomat in Rome, which was just a short walk from most everything we wanted to do while there. All these years later, my wife still talks about how awesome and amazing that trip was, so I would definitely recommend this company to anybody considering using them. Thank you all again for making that special occasion that much grander for us, and I wish we never had to take that beautiful boat ride from the Grand Canal in Venice to Marco Polo Airport to head back home because your country is just so beautifully amazing. Grazie!

Great introduction to the city for anyone visiting Venice for the first time. Our guide Cristina was great. She was easy to understand and gave us just the right amount of information, walking and breaks. She also found great alternatives to visit instead of St. Mark's Basilica which was closed due to Covid-19. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who visits Venice the first time. Cristina also helped us with recommendations on restaurants and other recommendations for the following days in Venice.

I think this is a nice enough boat ride which for the most part goes along the grand canal and you get to see some different aspects of various landmarks and commentaries help with giving an insight into the area and buildings. The problem I had was being on a boat that did not allow all to get a view from outside. There were 8 people and 2 get stuck inside. To me it is an odd style boat for this kind of trip as inside affords little views plus there were stickers on the small windows. Very annoying if you want to see what is going on and photograph things. The commentary too is not that loud and the boat when in certain areas was quite loud. Forget it if someone talks in the cabin when it is on. So even though I had a poor trip you can have a good one if you are either at the back 3 seats on the outside. Or potentially near the front to be able to come out near the driver. Or of course pay the extra and have a private boat and not have to worry.

Dear Client, Thank you for submitting your comments. I am happy to read the tour allowed you to admire different aspects of Venice and learn about the palaces and landmarks located along the Grand canal. It's not listed on the feedback when you took the tour so I can't check tour numbers or guide's details so I will offer just a general reply based on the info you included. Our tour operates with max 8/9 people per boat. Access to the Grand canal is limited by the authorities to a specific number and type of smaller boats. Apart from the public transport you will not see big boats of tourists passing through the Grand Canal as in order to preserve the heritage and the environment bigger boats are not allowed on the Canal or the minor canals of Venice. I am not sure if you booked directly with us or with a reseller but basically on our website you can view a video on the type of boats that we use on the tour: https://www.tours-italy.com/tour/small-group-grand-canal-boat-tour_18. These boats are auhtorized to access the Canal and pass under the Rialto bridge which is one of the main highlights of the tour. There is space on the front and the back of the boat as well as there are seats inside the boat if you want to rest, avoid too much sunlight or rain. Usually on the tour customers are pretty cooperative and switch places between different parts of the boat to take advantage of different views or spots to take pics. Our guides are also helpful in this case and you can always ask the guide for assistance if other passengers are perhaps not that much flexible to switch places. I am sorry you could not fully enjoy the views however I understand that the tour was nice and you enjoyed the commentary provided. Thank you for visiting Venice and helping our sector in this challenging time for tourism. Kind regards, Aleksandra Sales Manager @ Avventure Bellissime

I booked this with Tripadvisor before leaving the UK. While I was on the way to Venice I was sent an email informing me that the Doge's Palace tour would not take place because there were not sufficient participants, also St Mark's Basilica was closed due to restoration work continuing from the floods the previous November. I would be refunded for the missing tour portion. By that time I had no way of amending my plans to fit in another trip to the Doge's Palace. The explanations of why the cancellations took place were no consolation, if I had known about the issues before I left I might have arranged to stay another day or two but with flights and other arrangements booked it was no longer viable. The remaining part of the walking tour was very good as was the Grand Canal Boat Tour. The guide for both of these was Kristina. Kristina is a born Venetian and is passionate about her city and its history. As seems to be the case with most Venetians she now lives outside the city and commutes in. Due to other missing elements of the walking tour Kristina had arranged for our group to visit the rooftop of the German Inn (Fondaco dei Tedeschi), which building is now a high class department store. The roof of the building provides a magnificent view looking out from the Rialto Bridge across Venice. Between the Walking Tour and the Grand Canal Boat Tour Kristina showed the group a reasonably priced place to get some lunch. The boat tour travelled a number of the smaller canals finishing off with the Grand Canal itself. Kristina again provided us with historical information about palaces, museums, Lord Byron swimming naked in the Grand Canal, George Clooney's wedding and reception (she didn't get to dance with him), Salma Hayek's wedding etc. The main thing that came through from Kristina was her passion for her city. The two parts of the tour that did take place were very good, I have to mark the tour down due to the missing parts of the tour.

Dear Client, Thank you for providing your detailed feedback about Venice tours with our guide Cristina. She is one of our top guides and she certainly is going to be very pleased with your comments. Thank you so much for appreciating her efforts! As I am sure you are aware the Covid-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedent situation for the whole world including first of all the tourism sector. Visiting hours of selected attractions might be limited or in some cases like St Mark's Basilica visiting might be suspended until further notice. Considerable damage was also caused by the Nov 2019 flooding of Venice and the authorities decided not to open the church at present. This is beyond any tour operator's or client's control, opening hours of many attractions change every few weeks based on how the pandemic progresses so we all try to adapt to the situation as best we can. We normally contact the clients in advance to inform them about the limitations so that they can decide if they still wish to attend the tour. Venice is so much more than just St Mark's Basilica and we are pleased to notice that most customers are flexible, show up and enjoy their time on our Venice walking tour. Our tours have a minimum number of people required to operate. With the pandemic the number of tourists from abroad who book tours is very small compared to past few years so at times it may happen that tours in English or other foreign languages will not confirm. Should that occur we contact the travelers in advance to inform them about the situation offering a refund, alternative tour options or tour dates or other customized arrangements. We all hope that the situation will soon return to normal so that we can welcome many travelers to Venice again. I am happy you enjoyed your lunch at the place Cristina recommended and I understand that the two tours with her allowed you to discover many interesting and curious facts about our unique city. Thank you for visiting Venice and for helping our sector in this difficult time. Best regards, Aleksandra Sales Dept
