With tickets from €25 (€15 for children) VENEZIA at Teatro San Gallo, is a celebration of Venice. A light hearted, exuberant and entertaining show that illuminates some of the stories and traditions of the city in a very theatrical and enjoyable way. In this, the last private theatre in Venice, where once there were over 100, the cast of live performers bring to life the fascinating background events of this city's glorious and often scandalous past. Our wish at the theatre is to add to your understanding of this Great City's important story and entertain you along the way.

I went along to the show and I just didn't find it that entertaining. Yes, there were a lot of people who were enjoying the show, but I didn't find the humour in it funny (it seemed to be a bit stuck in the 80s, almost sitcom like) and at times I had trouble hearing what the main guy in... More

Very well put together production that covers an awful lot in a short time in an entertaining and engaging manner. The small cast are energetic and put there all into getting across the key themes that make Venice what it is. A good way of learning some of the background before exploring further. Under 10s are free but much younger... More

This show made my trip. Learned a lot of history about Venice that added to my later visits and experiences of things here. The cast (although small) were amazing and given the length of time the time the show has been running their enthusiasm for their roles was amazing. Very entertaining indeed Cannot recommend highly enough and in light of... More

It was very good with the film and the actors working together it was great, we learned more about Venice. It's a must while it's in town, should you want to learn more about the city your in.

At one time there were over 100 private theatres in this beautiful city and theatrical performances dominated historical culture How lovely that it is still alive today We attended Venizia and were so very glad we did The actors, script and presentation were of great calibre and very cleverly produced. While we have studied extensively the history, art and architecture,... More

Went to the show. It was a small theatre, show was all in English. I found the show quite boring, the actors were okay but i feel like the show could of been better. Kids would enjoy the show more i guess.

I've been to see this twice now. It is an English speaking show outlining the history and some of the key characters of venetian history. Very wittingly presented. A great bit of fun for 90 mins or so

As always history lessons are more interesting when doesn't feel like a lesson. This production is very entertaining and filled with so much information. The actors are very good and interact with the audience . It's very lighthearted and a good way to understand a bit more of the vast history of Venice. Well done to the actors who give... More

Absolutely fantastic! All spoken in English, comedy, drama and history, highly recommend going to watch this performance, can't describe enough how good this show is, even better if you can do the Hard Rock Cafe package too for dinner afterwards, will be going to see this again when we go back to Venice

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
