Santa Croce is a beautiful neighborhood only a few blocks from Piazza Roma. The neighborhood has less traffic. It is one of my favorite areas to stay in.

This 'Pantheon of Italian Greats' was amazing. While not as large as St Peter's Basilica in Rome or St. John Lateran, of course, it was huge and impressive. It preserves the memory of greats like Dante, Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, Rossini and even Marconi. The statues,...More

During a previous visit to Venice, we had stayed in a hotel located within this neighbourhood. It was a handy location because it was near the main railway station, a bus terminus and the cruise ship terminal. It also has water bus stop located on...More

With the bus and train station close by you just can't miss with this neighborhood. Much slower pace than the tourist types and a lot more local feeling . This is where I'd stay because it's always easy to find and get back too ....More

This has to be my favorite area in Venice. It's far away from the crowded streets and silly shops (near Rialto and San Marco). It's close to the train station and Piazalle Roma but if you walk a few minutes over the bridge it's very...More

This is the most popular area to enter Venice, and it shows when you first arrive. The edge of this district is littered with parking areas, bus & water bus terminals. Walk a little further into the city though and this area still holds a...More

Santa Croce is one of 6 distinct areas of historic Venice. This area has a dual personality. It is the entryway to Venice and as such is home to Piazzale Roma (bus station, parking garages and people movers) along with one terminus of the Vaporettos....More

One of the six districts in Venice's historic center, Santa Croce brings me back on every visit to the city. We always choose lodging here in the center's western corner because of its quiet charm. An absence of the sights considered by many to be...More

Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district)
when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring
cars and buses close to the center of Venice.
Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking
Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes
with energy from travelers and students. Historic
palaces and former industrial buildings house some
departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture

We took the airport express bus. Bought a return ticket so was already there for the way back and caught the bus just outside the main entrance of the airports.
