On the north side of the Piazza dei Signori stands the La Loggia del Consiglio. It was built from 1486 to 1493, and is crowned by statues of famous citizens of Verona. The yellow building on the left adjoins the red brick one and these are currently used as the seat of the provincial council. Few of the offices are... More

A place which reeks of the mediaeval power, notably of the Scaligeri, which once controlled Verona. Surrounded by beautiful buildings, although it was a shame that during our visit the Casa della Pietà and the Palazzo di Cansignorio (del Capitano) were covered in scaffolding and construction screens. However, the Podestà, the Renaissance-style Loggia del Consiglio, Domus Nova, Palazzo della Ragione,... More

Lovely square for a sit down during your walking around the city, this square is not as busy as many others so relax here before setting off anywhere else.

Former medieval central square of the town with the source of water transformed into the attractive area with fountain and columns of glory, surrounded by stately houses built during Renaissance and Classicism. On weekends it is a big market place where local goods and souvenirs are on sale

Quieter and under construction with white construction tarps covering the buildings. It is also called Piazza Dante. All the buildings are linked by arches. The whale rib hangs from one of the arches. There is a statue of Dante and and connects to Palazzo della Ragione and the Torre dei Lamberti. It was very low key during our visit. We... More

We passed through the Arco della Costa, heading from Piazza delle Erbe to Pizza dei Signori, to look at the beautiful old buildings for which this square is known (architecturally and historically). Instead, we came upon a huge Christmas market and could barely see beyond the myriad stalls and throngs of people. I had to edge my way to the... More

I say well hidden because all the tourist maps say its there but I eventually found it, and there was a Christmas market going on, and the buildings around it are beautiful - well worth a visit.

Beautiful piazza, buildings are very nice. It was fairly crowded, as Christmas market had been set up here. Be sure to look for the "whalebone"
