Mount Etna visit was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip to Catania!! We booked a daily tour there, which started from the city center and continued through the nice fishermen villages and wineries on the way - lots of sights to see while driving to the mountain! The mountain itself is a cool sight-to-see, covered with volcanic ash and stones.... More

A truly amazing natural attraction! Be certain to wear warm layers and sturdy shoes! We visited in February and enjoyed watching the skiers.

A must when visiting Catania or Etna, is to go to Mount Etna and see this wonderful active volcano and learn about its history and how it influences people's lives in Sicily. We used a guided tour which was the perfect way to explore the volcano.

We took one day tour from Taormina to Etna. Take warm clothes even in the summer it's cool near summit. Take sturdy shoes as you will be walking on volcanic rocks. The shops are very commercial and they love your money. You can negotiate prices as we did and save 20-30% on gifts. The tour is a full day's journey.

Visited Etna in February at around 2,500 MT height. Cold and snow on slopes. People saying. Took walk up along old crater and wind almost blew me off. Very worthwhile trip if you go with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Our guid Salvo was arranged thru Hotel Liberty and he did an awesome job.

We took the cable car to near the top, and then hiked a bit higher. It was amazing to be so close to a live volcano. The earth was actually hot from volcanic activity. The view of the volcanic craters was spectacualr.

The roads are open, the skiers have gone, thenwether is warming. It's a great place to,visit. You can walk on the snow up to some of the lower craters and get a molten chocolate in one of the cafes - with NO crowds

Wow! Amazing trip up to Etna, road is narrow in places, watch for pot holes!!, lots of photo opportunities, especially the larva rock! Cable car was 30€ each, then 48€ for a ride higher in the snow tracter if you wanted. The views were great, choose a good day, we checked weather forecast everyday as it does change. You need... Etna often is full of natural snow until April and if you like ski, skiing the Etna is unique because you ski between the smoke of the volcano and the blue of the sea and between the ancient craters. The skiresort of Etna Nord-Linguaglossa is about 40 minute far away from Taormina by car. The other ski resort is Etna... More
