Italy is blessed with an abundance of magnificent Duomi and Catania is no exception. The interior and exterior are striking and inspiring.

We were lucky to visit during the May festival and saw part of the service including the precession of Bishop's, which really brought this stunning church to life!

As with most in Italy, this is a stunning Duomo. The architecture is magnificent. The square is clean and just wonderful. We were visiting friends that live in the area and they told us that this was a must see. They were right.

Beautiful midevel church. Beautiful paintings, interior. Worth a visit if you like churches. It's the church for St Agatha, clearly an important saint for Catania.

A wonderful Cathedral. Breathtaking both outside and in. Worth the admission to the side rooms to the sides of the main altar. A visit to Catania would not be complete without a visit.

Most of the old buildings in Catania were build with lava stone thus a bit dark in colour. Nice square with the more attractive fish and vegetable market near by.

After a couple of weeks in Sicily, your eyes are bleeding from the surfeit of churches and monasteries but this is a lovely enough example to add to the must see list. I will say it is only one of two churches we ventured into...More

Worth a quick look, it has a pleasant pastel decor. Be careful, there are several people begging in this area.

The Duomo was open only until 12:30pm the day of our visit. Climb to top is €3. Many churches in Catania are open only in the mornings or close for several hours during the afternoon.
