A must in Messina! Impressive Chatedral and the clock tower is unique. At noon a performance with figures will play for You.

Each part of this clock has a purpose. Twice a day the entire scene moves section by section. It’s a beautiful think to see.

After watching, walk up the hill to the Santuario della Madonna di Montalto and compare the original with the model you saw on the belltower ... there are a lot of steps but there's a bench to eat an arancino and a great view across...More

Just make sure you are there at 12 because it's only on once a day it was the best 10 mins of our day.

This was interesting. At noon the clock comes alive - with the model Lion moving and roaring (three times) and a mechanical / visual display on all of the art on the clock. It was unexpected and unique.

We got there at 11.45am and there were quite a few people ready to watch and hear this magnificent clock. I don't want to spoil it for you but it definitely is a must see.

Very nice old place, easy to reach, close to nice restaurants. Can be visited inside and the top offers an image of the city and of the strait.
