An unscheduled stop on the QM2, no one told the locals - everywhere was shut until the word of mouth got around, by which time we were heading back to the ship!

What a beautiful place, Quetta and reflective cool and calming. Just beautiful taken a few minutes to forget the modern pace of life and take in the calming atmosphere.

Unfortunately the church was closed and the doors locked so I could not go in. Would have loved to with it's history...

This church is small and leave a strong impression of sobriety both at the outside and inside. It is not a crowded church. Nearby is a beautiful cafe and the monument of Juan de Austria, winner of Lepanto.

This very old church is built at the previous street level, the one that was before the earthquake. It is 3m below the current street level. Messina is literally built upon the ruins of the previous buildings. There was no cleanup of the rubble.

Probably the oldest church in Messina, very interesting from the outside with arabic influences (there were also Arab inscriptions decorating the door's frames), simple interior.

Pretty to look at but I wouldn't spend a lot of time here. Not much history to it as far as we say and the Duomo is obviously more impressive.

My ancestor Roger de Flor led the Catalan army and fought for the Aragon King Frederick ll in the 13th century based in Messina. Who can I contact to find records about him? I plan to visit Messina next September. Thank you for your time and interest. Dana Floor

Dear Dana Floor Thank you for contacting us. We will send your request to the chaplain of the Catalani's Church to understand if he can find records about your ancestor. Unfortunately we can't give you an immediate answer... More
