When we arrived in Palermo Cruise Terminal we took a taxi van. The taxi driver, in more than 3 hours, drove us along many places in Palermo. One of these places was Mercato Ballaro. A market for the sale of fish, fruit and vegetables, all displayed in colourful stalls. See some stalls and then you find repetitive stalls nearly all... More

We went to that so called street market thinking that we would find street food, as local specialities such as arancini, cannoli, etc. but they dont really have street food. It is basically a street market in which local producers or re sellers sells their goods. So mostly you will find vegetables, fruits and fish, all raw and to cook... More

We loved our visits to this lively market. We stayed in an apartment in Palermo and bought lunch there. Motzarella, tomatoes, olives, basil, bread and wine. The merchants are super friendly. The fish displays are incredible and the sausages, salamis mouth-watering. A great, authentic experience.

Big city market, very busy. I was surprised that I could not find the fruit that I wanted there. Not especially interesting, but worth a short stroll. Go to the monuments and museums instead.

It was just ok, underwhelmed and not well organized. It was supposed to be one of the better ones in Palmero. The smaller fish market at Catania was more enjoyable.

I found this market very usual. Vegetables, fish, cheese, olives etc. Nothing special. If you need to get some groceries - thats a place. If you looking for some authentic stuff - try something else.

Good to see the amazing produce and the vibrancy of the market as they provide insights into life in Palermo! We wish we were in an apartment so that we could have an opportunity to use the fantastic seafood, vegetables and fruit in a feast.

Great big market full of fresh fruit and vegetables, spices, delis. Busy atmosphere with stall owners yelling and people everywhere. Really good experience. Also good place to buy food, prices are cheap

We had seen the other main markets before this and most of the produce, fish, and other goods looked quite similar. We then entered a place where there were murals and very quickly felt unsafe and came upon so much trash everywhere and seedy looking people rooting through dumpsters. This was a huge turn off, we could not wait to... More
