This Museum is still under construction but what is there is very interesting. We had duck in to get of the rain and we were treated to very interesting regional museum about Sicliy and Palermo Archeolgico finds. I would definitely add this as part of your City Walk

I visited here (free entry) this morning. Its on the Via Roma next to the Post Office. 10 minutes from the railway station. Note its closed on Mondays. Really nicely displayed in English and Italian of Greek and Roman artifacts and statues/frescoes from the various Temples. Good for displays from Greek Temples which are difficult to get to on public... More

The current renovations have resulted in only the Ground Floor being open, but that should not prevent you from visiting Palermo's archaeological museum. The Selinunte metopes alone are worth the visit, but there are other exhibits of interest. For example, an exhibit on the ancient scripts on leaden sling bullets. Also there is a small fragment of the Parthenon frieze... More

Apparently this museum has only recently reopened after extensive renovations. As of Sept 2016, only the first floor is open and thus free. In the future there will be an admission fee. English and Italian labeling on exhibits that is very informative, including an extensive dig site going on right now. I can't remember name of that site, but this... More

It is the main archeological museum in Palermo, named after its founder. At the moment (September 2016) only the groundfloor is opened. Entry is free. On the groundfloor you get an exposition of writing systems existed in Sicily. The right wing is reserved for archaeological foundings expecially some impressive parts of greek temples. It could be a little bit more... More

We discovered the Archaeological Museum near our hotel (Grand Hotel Wagner) and decided to venture inside. We're glad we did because this newly renovated museum displayed the ancient Greek and Roman statuary and artifacts in a very pleasing manner. The building and courtyard are attractions in themselves, including the central fountain with turtles. The museum building is a converted convent,... More

It is a really nice place! The day we've been there, the entrance was for free which was a pretty nice surprise. Nice things to see, and you learn a lot about the history.

This was near my hotel in Palermo. We had gotten in late in the afternoon and I had a little time to kill before dinner so asked our tour guide if this was open. She thought it was closed for renovations but the desk clerk said it was open. It was open and it was free but only 3 rooms... More

Sadly with so much history in Palermo, it was sad to see that many rooms are closed (like many of the churches in palermo). There is not enough money coming into this place to really make it shine. What it does show is helpful and interesting though
