About
The view of Mount Etna and the sea beyond is absolutely superb at Taormina's 10,000-seat ancient Greek amphitheater, which was erected in the third century BC and expanded by the Romans.

We toured the site with Chiara Rozzi of Taormina, private tour guide, who provided a lot of history of the theatre. Visiting this building from the 700BC era that is still in use today is humbling and worthwhile.

Amazing place, very nice to visit. You can admire Etna and the coast from a beautiful theatre garden.

Roman/Greek amphitheatre high up in the town which has been adapted to support plays/concerts. Fantastic views over the coastline and Taormina Town especially from the roof of the cafe. Beautiful cakes and pastries at the cafe. €10 entrance. Lot of climbing and uneven ground. We didn't bother with the guided tour

We didn’t realise how beautiful and impressive this ancient theatre would be! A total wow moment!
Don’t be put off by the queues, they go pretty quickly.

An amazing space seething with history. Not much shade so try and time your visit to cooler days. Thoroughly recommend the cafe behind the bookshop. Wonderful heaven of peace and quie with a wonderful view.

Try to go in the evening as it was very hot when we went with very little shade. Wear good trainers.

It’s amazing to hear about the history but the town was so full of Tourists I would suggest to go in Oct or May. Most of the amphitheater was rebuilt but still a sight to see

A must see when in Taormina. Not a huge amount to do there but it’s lovely to see and there’s a great view. There’s also a great little cafe there too. We were staying close by so went early, I think about 9.30, to beat the rush and it was worth it. A lot emptier so we could sit in the shade and take photos. Entrance is €10 which we thought was ok too
