Assisi and Cortona Day Trip from Florence

126 reviews
Take a day trip to Assisi and Cortona and discover these charming hilltop towns alongside a guide. Departing from Florence, travel first to Assisi, where you visit the Convent of Santa Chiara, the Basilica of San Francesco, and hear about the life of St. Francis of Assisi. Pause for a peek inside Santa Maria degli Angeli church, believed to be a favorite spot of St. Francis. Then head to Cortona for some time to explore independently before returning to Florence.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class with Alessandra. While we had a fabulous two weeks in Italy, this was definetly one of our favorite parts. From shopping at the local butcher, baker, and vegetable market to spending the day in Alessandra's kitchen cooking, eating and enjoying some wine and great conversation, this class holds it all. I cannot wait to try making stuffed zucchini flowers again next summer when they are in season! Thank you for sharing fabulous recipes and welcoming us in your home.

First of all, this was easily one of the highlights of our Tuscany trip. Alessandra met us in Cortona for coffee and to help set the menu for our class. She then took us to the butcher, bakery, and produce market to help pick out the ingredients that we would need. What followed was an amazingly fun day of cooking and conversation at her 600-year-old house in Tuscany. It was both instructive and hands-on, and the end result was nothing short of perfect. I would recommend this experience for anybody visiting in the area.

Alessandra met us in Cortona and then we went shopping for what we were going to cook. We ended up her her kitchen to learn how to make a fabulous meal and had a fun time while we were learning. By the time you leave you will be great friends.

Our family of four including 2 teenage boys loved the entire experience with Alessandra. We met her in the piazza, enjoyed a wonderful coffee, planned our menu, shopped for the ingredients and then created a divine feast including tortelloni, ragu and gelato. We laughed, we learned, we chopped and we ate. Alessandra is a fabulous teacher and host and I highly recommend this for anyone visiting the Cortona area.

My daughter and I visited Alessandra for cooking class while visiting Tuscany. It was truly a highlight of our trip. Although there are many cooking classes available in the area, none would compare to this authentic experience. We shopped, we cooked, we visited, we enjoyed food and each other’s company. It was a perfect day. I would highly recommend this over any other cooking class that you could do in the area at a winery. This truly gives you the feeling of being in Italy.
