This unique Florentine piazza is the center of the artisan quarter. Dominated by the last masterpiece of Brunelleschi, the Basilica of Santo Spirito, the square is home to little local markets and antique fairs.

Go here to get authentic, reasonably priced meals! Don't look for dinner around the Duomo area of Florence. Lots of great restaurants here.

unless you are visiting the Pitti Palace there is very little for tourists to see in this part of Florence - better to spend time on more popular sites

It's yet another square.. Has a church Santo spirito in one side. The morning we were there there was a flea market set up..

Course we hung out in a lot of places while in Italy to simply eat and drink since, when we were not touring, we were either sleeping or eating and drinking. This was one of many amazing places to just hang out a bit.

A little bit calmer than the rest of the city. Nice cafeterias and bistros all around. Highly recommendable.

A lovely square to sit and have drinks and people watch. There are some good restaurants off the square. Sundays are fun for the markets here so you can enjoy a late breakfast or an early brunch in one of the many bars and cafes.

Santo Spirito / San Frediano
A warm evening with a cocktail in your hand and great
company is the ideal way to experience Piazza Santo
Spirito; the area is busiest at sunset for happy hour.
Visitors cannot hide their astonishment sitting on the
staircase under the Basilica of Santo Spirito, and
they cannot help but stare at the architectural
masterpieces like Bianca Cappello House, Fontana dello
Sprone and San Frediano in Cestello and Santa Maria

Santa Spirito is not far from the main areas. At Santa Spirito you can find a good mix of locals and tourists. There are great restaurants over there. On certain days there is also a market. We loved the atmosphere there.
