We didn’t go inside the cathedral, having queued for the Campanile, but the outside is truly magnificent!

For obvious reasons, this is a tourist hub. The Duomo and Cathedral are beautiful buildings and therefore people congregate here to take in the views and to eat and drink in the numerous restaurants and cafes.

We were fortunate to visit during off season so the line to go in was short and not rushed, the architecture, art and how they worked with the various materials available at the time are just incredible. A must do! A few years ago we...More

It’s surprising how time flies when you see a building of such brilliance sat there and all you want to do is stare at it and take in its small details.

You can't really miss the Duomo if in Florence, but why would you want to miss it? The intricacy of the pink and green marble work on the outside of the enormous structure is a marvel.

As soon as we went around the bend, it became visible and what a view. Amazing. The architecture, the colours, the design form outside, more than inside, are all extra ordinary. A place to be seen.

Incredible, fascinating...... It's very difficult to stop looking for the words that could be adequate to the place describtion. What I loved about it most - the most careful attitude of Florence to the treasures it possesses

The Piazza is truly the center of Florence, and offers beautiful views of the Cathedral. As such, it draws crowds of tourists, and many street vendors offering all sorts of junk.

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by
an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city.
The historic center is characterized by the immensity
of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the
brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does
not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni
Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is
enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city

You can visit it any time of the day. The restaurants in the piazza are open till late and you can always walk down the nearby roads and find lots of stalls for road side shopping.
