Same as the tower and the church the entrance is separated from both, if you have a guide look close to the paradise door outside the building facing the church side

Next to the Duomo you should make sure you visit this place. As well as the amazing doors, there is the guilt ceiling which tells all the major bible stories - amazing (your neck will ache).

The place is being repaired and cleaned but the ceiling is absolutely stunning! This was the highlight of Florence for us! The roof tells biblical stories and it is incredible.

This reminded me of the Pantheon in Rome in that it appears to be an empty room, save that this little gem is full of people staring at the ceiling and the altar. The decoration is stunning and you can lose yourself in trying to...More

After the disappointment of the interior of the Duomo this came as a wonderful surprise. The whole ceiling is a series of mosaic panels. The doors now housed in the museo are one of the finest works of art in Western civilization but the copies...More

You really don't need to spend more than 5 to 10 minutes here, unless you are with a guide. The place is old yes, but for me it wasn't very appealing.

Beautiful paintings all around the inside walls. You will need to purchase tickets from the ticket office opposite for entry to this building and also the tower, cathedral and Duomo.

Besides the magnificent decoration of the inside of the dome there isn’t much else but this is a must see place, particularly since it’s part of a combination ticket with the Duomo Museum and other Duomo attractions. Thus it’s effectively free and highly recommended

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by
an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city.
The historic center is characterized by the immensity
of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the
brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does
not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni
Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is
enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city

Going into the Church part of the Duomo is free (it's a church), but if you want to visit the museum/archeological dig below it, climb the steps, or any of the other sites, you need the ticket. It is worth the money!
