This is one of the top sites to visit. DO IT. While entering in, please realize the famous brass doors are replicas, the originals safely displayed in the Duomo Museo, which is a significant facility to see BEFORF pursuing the Baptistry and Duomo. Much of the Duomo's interior was ripped out by the Medici years ago for a wedding, so... More

These are amazing they contain rectangular reliefs of scenes from the old testament. they have scenes of the creation of Adam and Eve, Cain slaying Abel, Noah and the animals leaving the Ark, David and Goliath, the Ark of... Baptistery of San Giovanni (Battistero) impressed with its spiritual strong energy and meaning. One can spend hours looking at al fresco painted dome ceiling, it's breathtakingly beautiful.

We went inot the Battistero with the impression of what it looks on the outside but we're a bit down beat since there is not so much to see inside apart from being too dark.

This is part of the Duomo buildings to be sure to see. There is an entrance fee, but worth it. The ceiling is amazing; there are other art works to appreciate. The exterior is also beautiful. At night there are spotlights on it and the Duomo--a totally different look at night. Don't miss it!

You could sit and stare at the ceiling for hours. A truly amazing work of art inside. It doesn't take long to see but you'll be glad you made the time.

Amazing bone chilling art. The paintings of hell and creatures can't be missed and the doors aren't bad either

A must see from the sculpted bronze doors that are 20 feet tall to the magnificent ceiling this is simply a very beautiful and awe inspiring place. No place like it. Use your Duomo ticket to get in. Spend 20 minutes looking straight up and you will not regret it.

If you have a Firenze Card or some other combo pass that covers all the sights in the Duomo Piazza, you might as well check this out too while you're in the area. Otherwise, I don't think it's worth paying extra for.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
